Re: New Bulls

I've seen one very EVIL holstein cow who was removed from the farm after repeated attempts to charge anyone in the pen. She flipped two people over a gate, broke one persons' nose. She was removed from the farm after the third incident

Re: New Bulls

What is BS is your statement a cow has the
power to kill a human being. The only difference is most of the time it is not
intentional.I know of a guy who was clipping
a cow on his own.The cow kicked him in the
head and killed him instantly. The cow was chained up at the time his body was under the cow all night long.If u think only the males of the species can kill then one day u might get the shock of your life.If given the correct enviroment and stress like calving time this could unleash total fury.
A persons life is special and to say these powerfull animals are not dangerous in any form is very very unprofessional to say the least.Do u think the loved ones of the people who have been killed by a cow would agree with your statement.

Re: New Bulls

Cows do have just as much ability to kill as a bull and accidents do happen with both. But i'd be willing to bet 75% percent of people killed by cattle are killed by bulls.

I think both can be extremely dangerous. They are handled differently. I think MOST

Re: New Bulls

I think both can be extremely dangerous. Bulls are mainly in a solitary pen 90% of the time unless they are on the farm. Cows are around people much more and handled more often. I think MOST, not ALL accidents happen when people forget, get distracted, or take for granted that they are working with an animal that can kill them. We have domesticated them, but they are still animals.

'can'is the operative word, cows can be dangerous, bulls are always dangerous. KINGMAMBO made no distinction.

How did we get to this subject in New Bulls? My brother was almost killed by a cow when he was in 4th grade the cow wasnt trying to but was in heat and didnt go in her stall so he tried to stop her she knocked him down and stepped on his chest. She was trying to hurt him. We did have a cow that use to chase you if you went into the cow lot but was fine when she was in the barn.

Re: New Bulls

In the pedigrees of my cows is are a lot of bulls like Boulet Charles, Townend Lindy and the Blackrose bulls, really quiet nice cows, easy to handle (not as assertive as most farmers like them). In normal day to day routine my cows are quite OK, just when hormones take over the character of a cow (heat, cysts, ET etc) then you have to watch out. These days I'm breeding a lot with Durham pedigreed bulls (Braxton, Hvezda) and these calves are much wilder than I'm used to. See how they are when the have calved.

Over here there is a saying: the cows are like the farmer, wild farmers, wild cows, quiet relaxed farmers, quiet relaxed cows. Maybe that's also a problem, lot of farmers are in a constant hurry.
