I'm using him currently, think he's on offer to breeding club members at the moment for £15 or £16.

Re: pello

Classifier told me that he had classified quite a few and they were quite thick looking and didn't look very milky. He said everytime he asked the farmer how they they were milking the answer was, "it's my best milking heifer"!

Re: pello

It wasn't a criticism, I just relayed the classifiers's comments. He was quite positive about the bull.

I have seen Pello's dam on various occasions from a heifer through to 3rd calve and she was a really good cow.

Re: pello

I'm milking 3.

One calved in as a heifer with a touch of mastitis. I tend not to treat them so she was light in a quarter. She is calved in again perfectly normal and is a potential VG. She was GP82 as a heifer and with above average production for here.

Second one keeps calving well before the due date with very little bag made up. This holds her back production wise I feel and she was only at PI of 90 as a heifer (GP80).

Third one scored G79 (bit harsh I thought) and is producing really well. If she keeps at it she may end up the most profitable of the lot.

In summary two of the three aren't sharp enough for the classifier. However it's not like I'd struggle to find a sharp holstein bull to cross them with. They haven't needed foot trimming and it's to early to say fertility wise but no major problems so far.

As a commercial man he does appeal.. to put on the poorer tall frail (pedigree) sorts, emoticon
My only hesitation is his barn mate and half brother Laurerhill Classic, whose health and fertility are fantastic.
Which is why they are number one (pello) and two top selling bulls in Britain (Andrew Rutter Holstein International), well he said Genus but their top5 5 are assumed to be the national top 5 as they out sell every one else
