Will UK farmers receive the same euro price for base as the Danes and swedes, or will the price be specific to the UK business and the local market?

During transition Arla Milklink are deciding how money is distributed to members on various contracts.

My understanding is that once all the transitions are complete it will be one base across the whole co-op.

In theory that should be quite good. They usually have quite strong prices in Denmark, although their components would probably be considerably higher than here. That just leaves the other unknown - the pound/euro. And that could make a lot of difference.

Is the relationship not confined to cheese, which will be packed and sold into the GB market? I don't understand how this results in an ROI price per se?

Post received this week is talking of Arla merging all contracts into one price following the recent mergers across western Europe, and that price will have a constituent base.

That was announced to the AFMP members about 4 weeks before the deadline to sign the contract.

I was at an Arla meeting last night. The single price schedule will not be fully implemented until 2018, although some measures will be introduced prior to that. Looks like the volume bonus will be under attack. The guys currently benefiting from the volume bonus are understandably not happy at all.

Even with the increase in the fat reconciliation, for those producers, price still ahead of the FM price in Cumbria, by about penny & a half !

As far as I know by 2018 we will be paid on kgs of fat and protein and this will be based on daily testing, the cost of this testing being deducted from individuals milk cheques.

Welcome to the world of A+B-C lads....
It certainly made us rethink breeding strategy

We get about 8 tests/month for Fat, Protein, Lactose, SCC, TBC, its a good help to keep you on track and analyse how diet is working
