Flashback: Who was the best Starbuck son?

Since we already have a thread on Blackstar, why not one on Starbuck, the bull that built Canada into the Holstein power it is today.

Fun fact: Starbuck inspired the name and story of the Canadian film "Starbuck" which focused on a guy that had many children through sperm donation. It was later remade into an American film starring Vince Vaughn titled "Delivery Man".

MADAWASKA AEROSTAR

RONNYBROOK PRELUDE

DUREGAL ASTRE STARBUCK

MARCREST ENCORE

HANOVERHILL RAIDER

BROWNDALE STARDUST

250 BESNE BUCK

SABBIONA BOOKIE

HANOVERHILL SKYBUCK

HANOVERHILL LINCOLN

MAPEL WOOD TIGER CAT

HANOVERHILL BLACK JACK

HANOVERHILL STARDOM

ETC...

It's a bit harder to choose the best in this category, but judging from their impact, it would probably be Prelude or Aerostar

I liked our lincoln cows (from Astronaut Dam). Have Stardust in the tank as well (about 20 straws), together with few Flip and Pinehurst Starz (from Pinehurst Precious x Mathilda Ex97). The bulls to use in the genomic age :-). Bred one of my Braxtons to Stardust to add some strength.

Starbuck is all over but most impact on the breed is through Aerostar (Shottle, Goldwyn).

pfoo that's a hard one.

Aerostar is the one with the most impact. I like Prelude because of the very healthy claws.
Stardom, Bookie, Besne Buck are also favorites of mine.

Here in Holland , Mapel Wood Ideal (Starbuck x Sheik# gave a lot of good old cows.

Don't like Duregal because hated the STBVQ Rubens daugthers #emoticonuregal son)

Rubens was a difficult bull to use, I will grant you that. If he was crossed right, with let's say an Emory or an Outside, he could work well, otherwise it would be a disaster.

I think that's mostly due to his inbreeding.

Still Astre did have another son that had fewer flaws, TCET Lyster. He worked well in my dads barn

Well, that's probably the problem. I am not succesfull with using extreme (type) bulls. I'm not an very good breeder so when I use extreme bulls it mostly goes to the wrong side instead of creating better cows.

Personaly I like more bulls like O-Man. Maybe not high exterior but great cows who work hard for you and pay the bills.

worst thing about starbuck sons was their daus temprement.
having said that in our herd raider did very well and still have a fair bit of his semen.
Also was very happy with our encore daus that were imports and would take more like them in a flash.

I would say starbuck was a bull whose sons success depended on the dams strength of bloodline .

Maybe I'll scare you away now, I've a Rubens out of a Lincoln heifer this year. The Lincoln is Jo-Clar Lincoln Patches, born 1992 :-). Linebred Astronaut. Jo-Clar Lincoln Patches is the dam of Jo-Clar Jess Patsy of Bud Stilling who recently dispersed their very well bred herd in WI.

Lyster didn't work well over here, they didn't last.

I'd never imagine you'd have a Rubens daughter Black Caviar. With how frail Rubens was, I would think you wouldn't touch him.

So I assume it's an embryo from an old cow? That's interesting. I wish I could have embryos from prestigious cow families.
