Re: Windbrook

Q. at 6l per minute how on earth do you stop the cluster from flooding and falling off?

most of our aftershocks need a hook to hhelp hold the cluster on because they crash the milk out so fast.

Re: Windbrook

On an A4 the arm holds the clusters in position while milking so it's not an issue.

Doesn't that make for a bigger target?

I'll assume by target, you mean something for them to kick. It's pretty uncommon for the cows to kick at the arm as they are busy eating grain that is being dispensed. Only time you really see the arm take a beating is with a fresh heifer never been in the robot before but that usually dies with in a few milkings.

It is funny though some sires daughters seem to behave better the first few milkings, I know when ever we had a Beacon calve in they were the best girls temperament wise. 1 scan 1 attachment attempt.

I think in Holland, since last proof round, they have breeding values for these Robot traits. No idea how accurate these are.

What are you breeding your Windbrooks to? Have used Goldchip and Sons so far. Bull calves only so far.

Re: Windbrook

I would be thinking of the new bull Willows-Edge Iota Fame for the Windbrook daughters.

He comes from a great family with many of them being scored EX and with a 4th generation sire stack of Iota x Bolton x Outside x Skychief he would grab my attention.

I think Armani might be a good mating on the Windbrooks. Windbrooks seem to have the width, strength and power lacking in type blood. Armani might compliment that well.

I would rather use Atwood on a Windbrook daughter over Armani because he is not a carrier of HCD.
