i hope i'm wrong!
Is high protein not an indication of a positive energy balance in cows (relative to genetic potential for protein), and would this in turn not lead to a better DPR (again genetics dependant)
On an irish proof base we tend to find the bulls that sire high fertility usually always have high protein
I'm talking pounds of protein, not %. I have never found high pounds of protein and high DPR to be correlated and much less to be common?

Re: cogent supershot
Dairytalker, I know exactly what you mean. Supershot has a huge PTA for milk (+2147 lbs) and protein (+70 lbs) and very high DPR (+3.1). A very unusual combination.

Re: cogent supershot
Dairybulls rates him at 8.9% calving ease.
I have been lucky to enough mainly to have had heifer calves by him. They are quite big calves. I wouldn't recommend him for heifers although I have calved a couple of heifers to him without any problems.

Re: cogent supershot
Anyone seen any milking Supershots?
I have some in-calf heifers by him. I like them. Nicely balanced heifers with a bit of strength.
I was talking to an aAa analyser who told me Supershot was making some of the best looking bulls they were seeing when they were analysing young bulls. Much more balanced than a lot of their contemporaries.
