When Raider was available we were only really starting so the cows we had didn't warrant using expensive semen on.

I always admired the best ones that other breeders had. I loved the open, deep rib, wide rumps, bone quality and udder texture.

My guess is that he would have crossed well with Enhancer, Lindy or perhaps Linjet.

Foxleigh, what were your best matings with Raider?

he needed to be protected for rear udder height we thought ......did several raider x renegade x linmack flushes which resulted in mostly VG daus . used a raider x astrojet x ultimate son as a herdsire who has over 160 progeny in at least 20 herds that did well for us and a lot of others.he also crossed well on the skagvale bloodlines as well as inspiration.also a a few Vg ets from a homebred tempo son.had 28 in total

Raider would of been a great choice to use with daughters from Elevation sons like Majesty Warden Sexation or Tony.

Other sources that would of benefited Raider would be sources of Fond Matt like Mattador Rudolph Sheik Chief Mark Skychief Lancer or the Roxy son Citamtt these bulls would of made interesting crosses if they were used with Raider.

Other bulls that contain lots of ABC Reflection Sovereign look good for Raider as well especially through Reflection Marquis blood which is behind Charles Leader and Storm these bulls could work with Raider daughters.

Triple Threat looks a great choice as he was used many times on the Roxy family producing some of the best Threats.

The same could not be said for Jethro who was not used very much by Hanoverhill and this would swing my opinion towards Threat.

While I do entirely agree Triple is a great choice, I wonder what you have against Jethro. He is a great bull, from a great family and a golden cross, and he has bred numerous great daughters. Hanover Hill didn't use much of him or of his brother Black Jack or the great Victor and this doesn't mean they are bad bulls.

Well, I'd personally go for Jethro, especially if this is for a flush. What is the background of the Raider x Durham by the way ?

Triple Threat has had more success in Raider's family than Jethro. This was the only reason i would choose Threat over Jethro in this situation although it is hard to choose between them.

If Jethro was used then i would say that Triple Threat would be a logical cross for Jethro as he had many Triple Threat sisters that were scored well.I always thought Starlite blood would be a good place for Jethro as both contain Rockman.

I have a single straw of Hanoverhill Raider left in the tank and I can't make up my mind what to do with it! Take a chance on breeding a cow with it, or use it in a flush and risk getting nothing?

Maybe a mixed flush with the single straw of A Butlerview Mattador I have left?

The next problem would be that if any calves resulted Raider and Mattador probably don't have a DNA profile to test the calves against...

Raider has DNA case number 12267 here Mattador 72487

Wouldn't be too much of a problem if there wasn't a UK one I think.
