The historical accounts are one thing , but Milk Link has a higher exposure to butter/powder than First Milk.
If the commodity markets continue to weaken First Milk is better placed than ML?

Milklink would currently appear to be slightly better at holding producer prices on the current weak commodity markets.

Big Bird I take my hat off to the Team at Milk Link,if they can hold the price the same till May/June till the spring flush is over you guys should be OK.
My lot they couldnt hold their water never mind the price!!! Our capital retentions have come to an end, but with our Debts they are just taking it off our milk pool price now, only now they wont have to pay us it back!! emoticon emoticon

…Merger/Takeover

Big Bird would Milk Link like to take First Milk over and sort out the mess we are in?
Milk Link members must be glad the merger did not happen last year. The mess we are in I dont know if our current management can get us out of, I am told the 0.65p cut is to build up reserves that were paid out to prop up the milk price last year!!!!! emoticonOH:

I've heard suggested that First Milk's situation is scarily close to where DFB was at 12 months ago, but nobody in the industry wants to talk too much about it given what happened to DFB.

Well 12 months ago DFoB were distress sellers of cheese and running a liquid business that was collapsing in on itself.

I don`t know how First Milk really compares , other than that they will be sitting on a stock of cheese that is surely about to appreciate , and a £50 million pound holding in Wisemans , who have just announced greatly increased profits for the last 6 months.

First Milk were in profit the year before last , when did DFoB ever make a profit?

There are plenty of infuriated FM members though , me being one.

Gavin First Milk have just sold 37% of the shares they owned in Wisemans taking their stake down to 10%.
I beleive they were right to cash them as they got nothing but a profit on the shares and a dividend, they did nothing to get First Milk a decent price for the balancing of milk they do for Wisemans, although Robert Wiseman said at the AGM it was a great relationship, it is but just for Wiseman emoticonOH:
