Bosside Ruben daughter group that came third in the progeny section of a local herd competition held this week. Tulip from HG took first place, Timlynn Adam second, but by that stage of the afternoon it was pouring with rain so I left my camera in the vehicle.

No, she was on a partial TMR in her first lactation: pasture during the day, bunker at night. They have since changed to a pure pasture and supplements system. (I've seen many cows peak in the fifties just on pasture, maize silage and supplements.)

Great uddered Potter daughter entered in a first calver group in a big herd competion held annually on our west coast. A third calf Skip was voted cow of the day, but evidently the Boss Iron daughters held the day carrying two farms to second and third place in the herd competition.

Took this photo last week. Fourth lactation Sailor daughter of mine making 48 kgs a day. I used Sailor quite early and ended up with three daughters, six years old now all three are in their fourth lactatation. Bull has done very well locally and still sells.

Now I see why some cows in South Africa have their tails docked.
