Re: …

I am cetain that prices will get even lower. At present the highest priced bull on the sheet is [sign in to see URL] Canadian. Apparently they will be coined the Wal-mart of the AI industry, and sell semen at cost of producing it. I've been selling older plus proven bulls for [sign in to see URL] a dose, the draw back is my commision is twenty five cents a dose. Whoopty friggin doo for me, the sacrifices that I make for you monkeys is unbelievable. Thank god the kids are out of diapers and can poop out behind the nieghbours house now.
Here is a sad little story for you PAD old buddy. The competition have been blitzing the area with make believe deals. We all know that semen is overpriced, considering what it costs to produce it. The kicker is that farmers are like little old ladies bent over in a bargain bin. They wouldn't pay [sign in to see URL] for semen if that is what it costs. The trick is to inflate it around [sign in to see URL] to [sign in to see URL], then discount it to [sign in to see URL]. Farmers certainly aren't stupid but waive a credit at them and they get all wobbly in the knees. For the record, if anybody out there is maybe not too bright, don't shoot the messenger.

Right, I think Alta has a bull on Holstein Breeding's section of this site (AltaGR8M8) genomic - $50. I am not willing to give more than $20/25 for a genomic-only proven bull. I like being a little old lady bent over in a bargain bin LOL.

And we dairy farmers have to be little old ladies anymore. With 2009 and all. Our rep sold us Promote for $15, which it was on special for that price if you bought a bunch of units- which I did not. Glad he was nice about it.

yes we have gotton to the point of
"ok I want 50 straws what is the best price?"
and are quite happy to walk away if we feel it is too high.
I wouldnt care about paying 80$ if each straw equalled a calf but when you spend $800 for 3 calves it's a bit much.

Who are you selling the most of in your area mayjay? The sovereigns that are calving out now for the first time are looking very impressive, from what i've seen and heard.

Re: …

I thoroughly enjoyed my salesmen meeting yesterday. A nice bunch of guys to work with and share ideas. The best part of getting together with these guys is the fact that they are all retired classifiers and dairy farmers. Real cowmen that dedicated their lives to the holstein breed. I came away from the meeting with a sense of pride, in respect to the direction of the company. We are continuing to expand in an economic downturn, while many other companies are suffering losses for the past year.
Scotty, some of the fellas there yesterday thought that Sovereign might be our best bull. Carisma is the most popular bull for me.
We visited two herds yesterday that use mostly Foundation semen. One had a herd average of 280 BCA for milk, with many Primetimes in the herd. The other herd milked about 60 cows and milked about 20 Primetimes, and loved them. He had about twenty more younger, and was still using him. Just in case you couldn't tell, Primetime is my personal favorite bull, with Carisma right behind him.
From what I'm hearing around here you can buy any bull on any proof sheet for 25 bucks, with the exception of ABS. We've got a deal now, that if you buy 10 doses of YS at 10 bucks, you can get unlimited amount of Sovereign, Carisma and Atlantic for 10 bucks. Scotty, I was told there were 2 new salesmen selling for us in the maritimes. That would have been a good job for you.

That's too funny! Don't expect to get rich my boy, but at the very least you can now use Carisma and Sovereign at home for 7 dollars.( For the next two months anyway) Question for ya, is Cluney still selling down there? Aylsworth told me he set a couple of lads up a couple of weeks ago, in the east. I didn't ask who they were. I had no idea that one was a famous cowtalker. We might get ourselves banned from this site if we're not careful. Anyway, welcome aboard and see you at the annual meeting in August.

As far i know he is still selling. He has the east of NS and the other new guy has the west, and i have all of NB. I expect to move a lot of Atlantic and Carisma here in next month. Already got guys telling me to stop in. But i'm surprised the genomic bulls are selling fairly well. I see myself moving a lot of Accapulco seen the owner of his dam is 30min away, and she's impressive.
