Our vet kept palpating her, and said she was pregnant, and I probably had the wrong breeding date. I thought it was my mistake. The thing is the calf stopped growing and was dead- so it wasn't much bigger than normal - but it was deformed. And the calf was unable to produce the hormones needed (cortisol) to induce calving. I was following my vet's advice (actually, more than 1 vet) to just wait it out.

The website isn't complete yet, but it gives you a general idea of what is available.

Suntor Jed ( Shottle x Lightning ) scored 89 points as a yearling. The latest classification scores can be seen on the Foundation website. After eleven years, every bull has been scored and every one has scored VG first time. Great track record.

I figured I was falling on deaf ears, which isn't unusual on here. Yes you are correct, I do work for the #1 fertility company in North America. You know it isn't easy competing with all the truly top quality studs out there, but at the end of the day, it certainly is reassuring to be able to say WHO'S YOUR DADDY NOW.

I don't mean to be a jerk, but I always roll my eyes when someone says one stud is the best for conception because they all do. I looked at the bulls listed on the NAAB downloads and concluded that both Foundation and Genex have the exact same SCR of [sign in to see URL]. That is with Foundation having SCRs for 11 of 13 bulls and Genex with SCRs for 44 of 44 bulls. So your at least tied for the best.

I learned to look at stats when Accelerated made conception claims. Their averages last year was around 0. I had a rep tell me one time that their Bovatel technology was a joke and what made it worse was that dairymen knew they were lying through their teeth.

I don't think you're a jerk at all. Truth be told, every stud out there has to say or do what it takes to make their shareholders happy. The bottom line is to bring home the bacon. It's a cruel world out there, and sometimes if the little fellas don't speak up, they get forgotten. Every stud has convinced somebody to use them obviously, or they wouldn't be around. We also have some market share out there somewhere, whether it's used on cows or to make soup, I don't know, either way most are happy with their results. Proof is in the pudding, so to speak.

Thanks for not taking it the wrong way. Many salesmen come to the farm and have something that is better than the competitor.

I had 2 regular salesmen come in this week that mentioned Colostrum replacer to me. I asked if it was USDA inspected like the product I use packaged by Land 0 Lakes. Their product isn't but they claim it is still better than what I use although they have no tests done to prove it. All that to say that I look for unbiased results and don't take a salesman's word as the truth. The unbiased results (thanks to USDA) claim your right. If you were on my farm I'd trust you a little more.
