Re: …
I have some pawnee arlinda chief semen and used some on a few heifers last year and got 1 heifer calf. Any suggestions on what type of heifers I should use. The calf was short framed and thicker boned but the dam wasn't a large heifer either. I was just wondering if you had any breeding insight of what traits pawnee arlinda chief typically passed on. Just FYI, I also have some Elevation semen that I've used on a few heifers also.

Durham would work a treat on PFAC daughters. I would use a refiner type bull that breeds good udders esp udder quality. Zenith springs too mind.

To expand on smous, I would say Goldwyn blood would also work. Pay attention on any mating though. If you start doing the math there is a very high percentage of PFAC in many of today's pedigrees.

Is it just me??? I always think semen is worth more in the cow than in the tank.....

For insurance purposes?
Hard to say Elevation may still have some value to the right person the other I have seen sell very cheaply recently. There is currently an auction for old semen at Wheatlandag.com They have had sales of old semen for the last few years. Maybe send them an email for info on what they think it is worth.
