Hi Jonny,
As far as I know Braxton is not available in the U.K..which is a pity because one of the Guys who did the W.W.S. trip to Madison said the Braxtons were the best daughter group he saw!.

Had a good laugh yesterday. There was a big glossy full page advertisement for braxton. Saying how he is the next big bull, talking the breed forward, breeding udders that last, ect, the usual slogans. Haha, funny no mention of his horrendous DPR, PL and $NM, they didnt even print these figures anywhere. With bulls like this pushed on farmers its no wonder people are crossbreeding.

That's one of the issues...

People fall for the glossy adverts, big numbers, and the linear "all on the right side".

Very few people have what I would call a decent breeding plan here. Some may think that's rich of me to say working where I work but I class a decent breeding plan one which has a goal. Most do not have a goal and follow trends. Show cows end up with too much influence.

I get a good laugh every time I see a Genex ad. The only pictures they ever have are pictures of the bulls cause they have no daughters to show.

I hardly think genex are the only ones selling genomic bulls. Really, air brushed and altered daughter pictures are not on my list of things that influence what bulls I use.

Braxton is a turd sandwich that is being sold as gruyere. Your argument about Genex is a strawman in this discussion.

Buckeye,

Nothing about my post was to defend Braxton, it was to prove a point that any companys magazine ads can be laughed at because they are always gonna tell you how good their stuff is.

But to say Braxton is a turd sandwich is absolutely foolish. Sorry if I ruffle anyones feathers but PL and DPR are just easy excuses for people who have trouble getting cows pregnant. 7HO7359 Lou is a perfect example. He's negative on both PL and DPR by over 2 on each but yet the two dozen we are milking continue to breed back and last while maintaining sound udders and pumping out huge volumes of milk. PL and DPR have such little heritability I look at them as useless traits. I can't wait till our Braxton calves start milking cause I'm sure he will produce awesome milk cows for us just like Emory, Blitz, and Lou have.
