Market outlook 2012

What are those of you from NZ/Aus expecting from the dairy market this year?

We are being led to expect a moderate but not severe dip in commodity prices (as has been happening for some months) in the first half of the year, followed by a gradual recovery in the latter half.

China and other asia growth fall blamed in conjunction with rising US production and a good season in NZ, and to a lesser extent, poor EU demand.

Re: Market outlook 2012

we have been told to expect a lower opening price in june compared to last year. This is going to stress already overstretched farmers who are trying to recover from 10 years of drought.Feb price on our farm was 35.6c/l plus gst.this is barely break even for us.Now most of the murray valley haas been flooded out fodder for winter will be expensive.(not to mention that many farms may not get pastures replanted intime.
NB. if you werent flooded out last year you copped it this year.
