Longmoor signing in!

Hello all
I am a new user long time dairy farmer, we milked for generations in Oxfordshire until last year when we moved 376 head of our pedigree holstein herd to Dorset. Our herd was the Cherwell herd but now all calves carry the new Longmoor prefix. We have now settled in and the cows are thriving in their new environment, our aim is to produce quality milk from quality stock without compromising their health at any point.
My passion is pedigree stock and finding out what others do helps me to be better at what I love doing.

Hi, yes I am a huge fan of Durham red, they are stylish with great rumps and dairyness, our first one is due to calve on Christmas Day she is from our Snow White family and two from our heather family shortly after, where did you look at our cows? We have been classifying for 25 years or more, one of the Durham heathers is out of a 90 point regiment red who has starbuck blood behind her adding some great strength and the other is out of an 85 point tait out of the regiment red. I will be photographing them in the new year. Other ones are from sunsets and arlene, more coming to our website soon [sign in to see URL]

Hard to tell with the artie heifers, not as stylish as the Durham reds so will know more when they calve in. Thank you for spending the time looking at our cows, the sunset family traces back to 1941 and is still going strong, I worked on a farm that had a snowboots, I will look into it and tell you more about it

The Snowboots family were imported from Canada by Tom Carrick of the Ullswater herd in the early 1970s. I had forgotten that Tom renamed the family after the prefix of Bootmaker's [sign in to see URL] Snowboots and Snowboots 2 both being sired by Bootmaker.

I did not know that Snowboots had UK progeny
she was a great cow back in the day.I like the sound of your cow family still going since 1941.

No direct progeny from her, just via her son Bootmaker, but Tom Carrick was astute enough to make the connection by renaming the family. Tom's family were from Alder Grange Ella Bellboy.

Cow families here go back a lot further than 1941 but I do not have the paperwork to prove it!
