@dabble1980: I hope you're right about the greatness of this sale. It's only type type type (which I like a lot). My impression is that the only thing that makes money in the current business are real high genomics and red polled, the rest is given away these days. I hope that this sales brings good money for the breeders of exceptional pedigreed cows.

Re: St. Jacobs Progeny Celebration Sale

There are quite a few lots out of great cow families (not just the showy cow families) by the top genomic bulls fetching high numbers and prices today. I'm not one to gloat about genomics but if that's what you're after; there is something for everyone here.

The uniqueness about the genomic animals offered here is that they are from time-proven cow families from quality cows. It's not justhigh numbered galf out of a GP80 4 year old cow from the most highly sought after genomic bull today. You're getting the best of both worlds with the genomic offerings here: quality cows and good numbers.

While the sale is mostly for type animals; St Jacobs is a type-sire AI company, There are plenty of animals available here from sires and families with plenty of strength behind them.

It's nice to see such a high quality sale from quality cows that will hopefully still survive well in today's market. I am not a fan, at all, of the way genomics is playing out in the sale-end of things lately so I hope these good heifers and cows with good pedigrees, beautiful udders, etc sell very well.

I am not sure if the sale will be broadcast online, it is hosted by MD-Hillbrook so check with them.

I have not seen Lot 24 but she is a good one. She is an April heifer and she is RED and POLLED. In addition, she is out of a great family. Sired by DESTRY and out of a VG85 (12th Generation VG/EX POLLED Roxy!). Can't really go wrong there. Tremendous heifer by one of the best Red Carrier bulls on offer today who is PROVEN. The Destry's are very nice. Great heifer on offer

I have to ask Dabble: what is your connection to the sale? It is a nice sale, but certainly not in the unbiased running for the "sale of the year."

Re: St. Jacobs Progeny Celebration Sale

I have zero connection to the sale but I believe it's very hard to find a sale out there with such high quality, proven genetics in one place. Realistically where are you going to find a sale with daughters out of : Haley, Dana Rae, Apple, Ashlyn, Happy go Lucky, Barbara, Goldwyn Africa, Candy Apple, Jenna, Ambrosia, Frosty, Jessa, Hezbollah, Vivid, Dasher, Vista, Veronica and the list goes on; That's not including the top genomic females from great, deep pedigrees. In addition there's offers on hand from the top genomic sires in the industry and the top show sires: Goldwyn, Atwood, Sid, Fever, Destry, Heztry, Aftershock, Stormatic, Redburst, Braxton, Hired Gun, Tequila, Premier, Verb Response.

Maybe it won't be a sale of the year contender but it's nice to see a catalog packed with such desireable, deep, proven genetics all around

Since lot 24 is Polled and Red, a Destry and out the Roxy family; I see solid 5 figures on her but it really depends on the sale order and what buyers are at the sale looking for. She's going to show very well and she is a hot commodity because she's red, polled, and deep pedigreed for show type, etc.

Cattle looked nice in pictures. Prices looked like there was some good buys there. Does anyone know what the Redburst sister to Sunburst brought. I didn't see it online at all.
