Yes the aussie index is 63% production based, another reason why I don't like it.

Can we keep the comparative index discussion to the index thread please, I started this one mainly to tell people about our bulls being available overseas, not to start a what's good or bad about the Australian system.

Whether we like it or not it is what we have to work with.

Ok then I just had a flick through the GA catalogue and see the majority of the sires of the PT bulls are Goldwyn or talent sons. Now my idea of good grazing cows must be way off the mark according to that.

It's no different to the wave of Donor sons that came through, or any others high ranking bulls at the time honestly.

This will be the last year of the Cardinal (s. Talent) sons and the only year of Palermo sons. Yes there are a few Goldwyn sons getting high rated progeny up there in this group. I was surprised by this as I don't like Goldwyn himself that much. Some of his sons do have less stature or what I would call more oomph than his sire (I quite like what I have seen of Palermo). One of goldwyns best traits is that cell count.

The group average was very interesting to me, 3 bulls of ~85 are below 100 for cell count. Fertility is still lacking unfortunately, hopefully with the revised calculations it will pick up in a few years.

There are plenty of Informer(s. Basar) sons as sire of sons in this group.

Also lots of Oman, through bulls like Wyman, Gold Crown (both Goldwyn x Oman), Man-O-Man or daughters of Oman himself.

Plenty of planet and Ranneslov dams have done well in this group.

I am looking forward to more Planet sons/grandsons in the next couple of years.

I'll probably put in an order for Bonjovi and Bobdown next time my Taurus guys come through.

Certainly won't hurt to give them bulls a whirl.

Difference being in my opinion that donor was a great grazing bull, the other two I am not so sure.

Looking through the GA catalogue I would love for delsanto to have better health traits. I would use him in a second. Then I see his pedigree and doubt ill ever use him. Informer, I milked plenty. Cows that look impressive but hard to get in calf and love to die. Usually twisted gut. Fabulon, terrible proof himself and going by his sons I am milking extremely hard to get preganant and great at dieing for no reason.

It's hard to find any aussie stuff with any sort of health traits. Now with all the Goldwyn blood as well its not getting better any time soon.
