Haven't used any Halogen yet, but at 3.1 SCR and calving ease, it may be hard to go wrong using 10 or 20 units, and the health traits look to be breed leading. If I remember correctly, a Halogen son is at the top of the heap for NM or GTPI, as just a baby. It seems to be a good indicator so far if a bull can make extremely high testing calves that there proof will be just fine in the end. Continued success and thanks for the info!!nondisclosed_email@example.com (craethke)Sat, 05 Jul 2014 07:12:06 +0000 Re: genomic resultshttps://bcowtalk.runboard.com/p437416,from=rss#post437416https://bcowtalk.runboard.com/p437416,from=rss#post437416Thanks Craethke. We only used 10 units of Halogen, but ended up with 11 pregnancies. 7 of those pregnancies were from three units that we used for a flush. Can't complain much about those results even though its a pretty small sample size. Calves are small but vigorous and rather friendly. Had several of my Halogen calves try and lick me imediately after dehorning. None of the calves required any assistance at birth and I am thinking of using more of him this summer as his SCR score is a very solid 3.1.nondisclosed_email@example.com (JEB12)Sat, 05 Jul 2014 00:23:22 +0000 Re: genomic resultshttps://bcowtalk.runboard.com/p437413,from=rss#post437413https://bcowtalk.runboard.com/p437413,from=rss#post437413Congrats Jeb! Dam is a 2269 GTPI Airnet daughter that comes from a grade family in our herd thats seems to put up good production combined with low maintance generation after generation. Her genomics just kind of confirmed what we already knew.
