Re: Toc-Farm Duplex Glauco
His calving ease number in Italy is 98 with 1698 calvings recorded (100 is avg BV). This would be similar to 9% here in the US.
What I hear from breeders in the US is that the calves are stout but they come easy, have not yet heard from anyone complaining abt the calves being "too big".

Re: Toc-Farm Duplex Glauco
Glauco is not advised on heifers, excepted sexed semen.
Some people in france say that bull calf are big, very large shoulders.

My 65'' Allen is pregnant from sexed Glauco.
Glauco x Allen x Lheros x Charles. I have to find out how many times this one traces to good old PF Arlinda Chief, plus a double cross to Allen, expect the next generation to have more power than the average Holstein cow these days :-). Very happy.
I did my counting on PF Arlinda Chief. Glauco has 21 links to Chief (9 through Duplex, 12 through Amyly), my maternal line has also 12 links. This adds up to 33.

Re: Toc-Farm Duplex Glauco
Wow BlackCav , Pf Arlinda Chief is in so many pedigree's , actually nearly all Holsteins have Arlinda Chief, Tidy Burke Elevation or Bell at least one if not all of these bulls are in most pedigree's multiple times.
When you look at Round oak rag apple Elevation his progeny worked well being closely crossed.
I cant think of many more foundation bulls that have had the impact of these 3 bulls.

Re: Toc-Farm Duplex Glauco
Of the current top bulls Planet and Shottle have only a few crosses to Chief, Oman and Goldwyn few more but just about 6 if I count right.

Re: Toc-Farm Duplex Glauco
I have used him on heifers.
the pregnancy rate is incredible. Nearly 100% in our herd.
I like bulls that throw normal sized calfs. Hate bulls that bring to small calfs. But its a bit different in my herd because teh heifers are between 30-34 month old when they calf. So the are wide enouth to handle that.
The worst calfs I had were the calfs from Champion. In my opinion is the reason Rudolph in the pedigree.
A lot born dead or died in the first week. They have been to small.

A little of topic, just curious silberhof, whats the reasoning in calving your heifers in at 30 months?
