Wilra Boliver Sequoia

I bought some semen from this bull to use on my oldest Sudan's, which are ready to serve.

My attraction was his "outcross" pedigree; Boliver x Ramos x Addison, aAa code of 561 which is a nice match for my Sudans and his reasonably high TPI.

I studied his proof a bit harder today as I was trying to work out what else I was going to use the semen on. After re-acquainting myself with his proof I thought maybe this is a bull I should be using a lot heavier. He really has a no holes proof. With all the talk about the need for an outcross I am surprised this bull is never mentioned.

His code is 1HO02611

I saw Boliver a few months ago. Great bull, powerful, very sound and in great health for his age. Really liked the looks of him. I'd be willing to bet his sons are quite nice too

Good pick errolston, he looks to be a really good bull with over 800 dtrs, high fertility himself, and the aAa numbers are hard to find. Nice combination of thurl width, fore udders, stillbirth is outstanding, and CM$ is pretty high as well. Looked at Sequoia before, have to plug him in a few spots, thanks for the heads-upemoticon

I only have 3 calves by Sequoia, 2 heifers and a bull. I really like all 3. Lovely long necks, long bodies, hard tops and really balanced animals.

I have a bunch of Sequoias in my hutches. Bought ten doses. Six pregnancies. Four heifers. They are the most aggressive calves. Always out to drink. And when I'm watering them or bedding, they are rooting at me or giving me a bunt.

How do the daughters of Sequoia do it right now? Can you still recommend the bull?

I have calved 2.

The first one was classified 84 points as a heifer. She had problems with milk let down, a trait from her maternal line, and eventually had a bad mastitis and we got rid of her. It was a shame because she looked good and milked well.

The second one has just had her 2nd calve. she looks really well. I classify soon and I expect her to score around VG86. Very balanced, lots of dairy character, a nice udder and very good feet and legs. She is average for milk yield but is testing well for protein.

I have quite a few calves by him and I like them.
