glenaften enhancer
I did a search but.....
the only first calver from the spring batch that has rear teats placed nicely apart and at the lowest point of the udder so she milks out beautifully is an enhancer.
most of the rest have rear teats so close as to be nearly unfunctional and reverse tilt so bad that they require a hook to hold the hoses up so as the cluster stays on long enough to milk.
they are by bulls including aftershock,GI (intrgrity x starbuck),hosalvador,ARJ(raider x astrojet)Bolton,DT (threat x inspiration).
milking her makes me wonder how far the breed hasn't come.

Re: glenaften enhancer
From what I remember we has some good enhancers.
It was partly this sort of thing that got me disinterested in type breeding.
Breeding for high type/udders ended up with far too many cows that end up too tall, too narrow, too angular. Very strong ligament, short crossed rear teats and often too close front teats. Like you said, won't milk out properly. As much as people probably don't believe me its bulls like Oman, Freddie ect that have given me better uddered daughters than the high type sires.

Re: glenaften enhancer
Teat placement has been getting quite a bit of emphasis in breeding for quite a few decades. Just unfortunately when you keep trying to move the front teats inward, the back are also being brought closer as well.
There are still major defects in the breed that need to be improved.

Re: glenaften enhancer
Always wondered about the choice of prefix - the real Glen Afton is about 6 miles from here ( and mentioned in the Burns song " Flow Gently Sweet Afton").
But didn`t the Enhancer daughters flow very gently indeed - ie chough milkers ( slower than sheugh watter).
Then there was the calving difficulty , and the legs and feet problems.
Also low protein and high cell counts.
Med-O - Bloom Enhancer Derek (Red)was a reasonable bull though , but then he had double Triple Threat on his dam`s side.

Re: glenaften enhancer
we now have 2 milking enhancers - the heifer and a born in 2004 VG88 one.The diamond heifer is an enormous elephant and the quality cow (x raider) is a quite short legged deep bodied cow with a really nice udder.Neither appear to resemble the enhancers I remember from the 80s but both are very functional and quite correct.neither have the starlite udder or temprement.I wouldn't mind more of both to be trueful and I hadn't realised how old ge quality was til I looked up her birth day.She could easily be around for more years if she keeps getting back in calf.

Re: glenaften enhancer
the old tub lost her head as a 14yo and made over 1800 on the hook.
I see we have another enhancer from the same cow family in the joining mob
