At this moment highest TPI available bull in our country and very expensive (70 USD). Any coments about this bull?

For a hot genomic bull the price is not that bad. I've seen hot genomic bulls for 200 euros and more. Colt P45 was 280 euros when he became available, now, a year later he's 29 euros, still a lot for a unproven bull.

Hey Arpagon, where you been at?

I always liked Halogen's sire Petrone. Not sure about stacking genomic on genomic. Okay for bull studs, but try not doing it too much when selling to farmers and if I do I stick to the big names, obscure sire stacks have higher risk.

Re: Halogen

the only way I can justify using hot young genomic sires and paying the price for them is if I'm flushing cows to sell embryos from.

I would much rather wait it out and pay regular retail when the bull is actually proven because owning early daughters from the bull isn't worth paying the money for him in my current situation.

I do have a few high gtpi cows in my herd but it's not my goal to breed and flush to high gtpi young sires in order to market genetics. I choose to breed those gtpi cows to proven bulls, for instance: Dorcy and I will only use a young sire if his pedigree or certain traits are really what I'm after.

The high prices for young sires are only because stud companies are trying to make the most off of them while their genomic numbers are still worth something to buyers.

Hey dabble have been wanting to ask this for a while, did you breed ronelee outside dabble or is dabble your name for another reason? We can get every hot genomic genex bull we want but there's hardly a point. We are using some jacey and day and that's about it. May give mogul a try since people seem to like them and we need the aAa code, with a bit of outcross.

We had bought 10 units of him right after he was released in August. Flushed one heifer to him with three units and got 7 pregnancies and with the other seven units got 6 pregnancies on conventional breedings. So couldn't have asked for much better fetritilty, but small sample size.

Similar to what dabble said, just wait a while. I only use the "hot" bull for flushes to sell eggs or bulls. If you wait one or two proof runs, the price will be more reasonable. This is especially true with Select bulls. The other studs will hold the price. It isn't necessary to wait until the bull is proven if you don't want to wait.

Valiant; no I did not breed Outside Dabble. My username is that because of a favorite cow I had in my herd.
