Exhibiting Other Breeds at World Dairy Expo

How many producers would be interested in being able to see other breeds of dairy cattle at World Dairy Expo?

Breeds would include but not limited to:

Milking Fleckvieh
Montbeliarde
Normandy
Dutch Belted
Norwegian Red
ProCross
Red Dane
Swedish Red and White

I can only speak for myself but I wonder how much interest there would actually be. I've encountered interest in showing among Fleckvieh and Normande breeders. But I think that the people that are crossing with these European breeds do so because they are put off by the type of cow seen in the WDE show ring.

I'm indifferent at best. If it's something a lot of people demand I could see pursuing it. But maybe testing the waters on a smaller scale than World Dairy Expo would be most prudent.

Yes we are seeing a definite interest in showing the Fleckvieh, Normandy and some of the other breeds to a lesser extent.

What the feeling of some is that at WDE they have seminars and etc. on crossbreeding, but actually seeing the results would be of benefit to many as well. It may help in persuading someone who are on the fence about crossbreeding to go ahead and take the plunge.

We already have the Wisconsin State Fair on board with offering an All-Breed show at their 2014 fair. New York will also have an All-Breed Show in 2014. Others are beginning to follow.
