I do love this bulls name though: because we all know the power of Colt 45: IT WORKS EVERYTIME! nondisclosed_email@example.com (Polytechnic Imperial Knight)Fri, 01 Jul 2016 15:27:36 +0000 Re: mr chassity colt 45https://bcowtalk.runboard.com/p443429,from=rss#post443429https://bcowtalk.runboard.com/p443429,from=rss#post443429Is there a red and polled son of him available? I just see it as a bit of a genetic waste, alchemy may turn out OK but he will likely never be up to black and white standards, that being said he probably will still move lots of semen, since apple 3 is a hell of a cow. Blackcaviar I know what you mean, if a bull sells then the Ai company's don't care. nondisclosed_email@example.com (Valiant97)Wed, 09 Apr 2014 21:25:40 +0000 Re: mr chassity colt 45https://bcowtalk.runboard.com/p436802,from=rss#post436802https://bcowtalk.runboard.com/p436802,from=rss#post436802quote:bryant rathbone wrote: I will genomic test them to see how they turn out. Colt P45 was incredably expensive when he came out first, so I think you have some of his first daughters. They look OK, so if the price is OK, why not try it. A bull only enters an AI stud because the AI stud thinks they can make some money with him, and a superb type pedigree still sells apparantly, even if not everything is optimal (in case of P or Red). At least that's what I think.nondisclosed_email@example.com (BlackCaviar)Wed, 09 Apr 2014 08:03:52 +0000 Re: mr chassity colt 45https://bcowtalk.runboard.com/p436800,from=rss#post436800https://bcowtalk.runboard.com/p436800,from=rss#post436800I will genomic test them to see how they turn out. I agree, I wish he was red but we all know how recessive genes work. I put some in the tank. He is all around a decent bull from the Apple tree. PL +3.1, DPR+.20, SCC 2.78 pretty good health traits for reds. I bet they move a pile of his semen, until Apple 3's red son comes out whenever there is one of those. nondisclosed_email@example.com (RW Holsteins)Wed, 09 Apr 2014 03:00:48 +0000 Re: mr chassity colt 45https://bcowtalk.runboard.com/p436797,from=rss#post436797https://bcowtalk.runboard.com/p436797,from=rss#post436797I agree with mitch mast, i see it as a waste when companies use non polled lawn boy sons or other polled genetics to get bulls that are not polled. I also Dislike it when companies like semex puts bulls in Ai like the braxton x talent x advent that is not RDC, or non RDC bulls from planet silk etc. St Jacobs also put a bull in there stud who is a alchemy from apple 3 who is not red. To me that is just a waste. Heterozygous polled x heterozygous polled, being heterozygous also seems like a waste. However in your case, it is just 2 heifers that won't have many offspring in many herds, they also could have both been black. They have a very good pedigree, and at a good price, why not? nondisclosed_email@example.com (Valiant97)Wed, 09 Apr 2014 02:50:26 +0000 Re: mr chassity colt 45https://bcowtalk.runboard.com/p436788,from=rss#post436788https://bcowtalk.runboard.com/p436788,from=rss#post436788I think if they aren't polled that could be the reason why they went cheaper. In my own herd I won't bring Lawn Boy in unless it is through a polled daughter or son. My reason for this is there is already so much Lawn Boy in the polled part of the breed and I don't see the purpose in wasting the genetics on a horned animal especially when there are so many better horned options. This also leads me to look for polled options that don't contain Lawn Boy in the pedigree so that I have bloodlines that are outcrosses to everyone else's polled genetics. I guess actually though if they went cheap enough I would do it because it's hard to pass up a really good deal.nondisclosed_email@example.com (mitchmast)Tue, 08 Apr 2014 03:02:37 +0000 Re: mr chassity colt 45https://bcowtalk.runboard.com/p436784,from=rss#post436784https://bcowtalk.runboard.com/p436784,from=rss#post436784http:// nondisclosed_email@example.com (bryant rathbone)Mon, 07 Apr 2014 22:41:53 +0000 Re: mr chassity colt 45https://bcowtalk.runboard.com/p436783,from=rss#post436783https://bcowtalk.runboard.com/p436783,from=rss#post436783http:// nondisclosed_email@example.com (bryant rathbone)Mon, 07 Apr 2014 22:37:25 +0000 Re: mr chassity colt 45https://bcowtalk.runboard.com/p436782,from=rss#post436782https://bcowtalk.runboard.com/p436782,from=rss#post436782No they are not polled but are red. Were the claves polled? if not that can drop value. Colts are also shallow ribbed according to his proof, and that bbm colt p apple that has been doing well at shows is also quit shallow ribbed. Colt 45 could tun out to be pretty good though, great family so who knows, its all genomics as of now. nondisclosed_email@example.com (Valiant97)Mon, 07 Apr 2014 21:02:23 +0000 mr chassity colt 45https://bcowtalk.runboard.com/p436778,from=rss#post436778https://bcowtalk.runboard.com/p436778,from=rss#post436778Anyone have any or seen any? Looks to be a nice bull. Any bad thoughts on him? Picked up 2 colt 45s out of an ex advent the other day and I thought I got them reasonably cheap considering what cows and heifers have been bringing here. Wasn't sure if I missed something about this bull and thats why I was able to get them?nondisclosed_email@example.com (bryant rathbone)Mon, 07 Apr 2014 20:15:46 +0000
