Makes that you have far less choice of bulls which makes picking one of them quite easy, mostly they all fit pretty well, just calving ease is a serious problem with my breeding goal. And as my breeding goal is completely obsolete these days, not many new bulls will arrive on the top of the list so my sires will probably merely stay the same the next few years. Makes life easy, which I like. nondisclosed_email@example.com (BlackCaviar)Wed, 30 Jul 2014 07:43:33 +0000 Re: What would you breed this heifer to?https://bcowtalk.runboard.com/p437681,from=rss#post437681https://bcowtalk.runboard.com/p437681,from=rss#post437681Welcome Gerwyn (Freddie x Goldwyn x Addison)looks a good match for Glenton daughters although he is not Sexed.Even though they are from the same family they are separated by many generations and being a Freddie son he should work well with Planet sons and both bulls are backed by Goldwyn dams for consistent type. http://www.genusbreeding.co.uk/?bulls=welcome-gerwyn-et A Genomic bull that is Sexed that looks very promising is Dirt-Road (Alta) Corsa he has very high components with enough milk and balanced type his health traits look positive in Canada but average on his US proof. If you want high genomics; be prepared to use a bull with one of those in the pedigree and high inbreeding. Bowser's milk proof isn't lighting the world on fire but he is still +6.1 PL, +2.9 DPR. Is he the complete package, no he is not, but he is an option. Favre is backed by big framed bulls and is 8.4 on calving ease. It depends on how far you want to go for using bulls on heifers. Again; he is an option pending the calving ease. nondisclosed_email@example.com (dabble1980)Tue, 29 Jul 2014 20:03:18 +0000 Re: What would you breed this heifer to?https://bcowtalk.runboard.com/p437676,from=rss#post437676https://bcowtalk.runboard.com/p437676,from=rss#post437676Dorcy and Favre are not suitable for hfrs even though we have used them both. Not sure why you would use Bowser on a good pedigreed hfr with current numbers. Bowser is a nice bull for udders, health traits and SCR, but his production pretty much sucks, esp fat lbs. Most would consider him a genomic failure as such.nondisclosed_email@example.com (craethke)Tue, 29 Jul 2014 16:05:10 +0000 Re:https://bcowtalk.runboard.com/p437675,from=rss#post437675https://bcowtalk.runboard.com/p437675,from=rss#post437675Here are my thoughts if you have access to these sires: Accelerated Genetics: Gifian: Mogul x Boxer x Juryman. Huge production numbers, solid type, udders, and legs. Pincher: Ecoyne Isy x Super x Pronto. Not a super deep pedigree bull but will sire moderate size cows with lots of milk. No Shottle. Calving Ease. Shakespeare: Epic x Shottle x Debut. A lot of shuttle for one pedigree but he is very deep pedigreed with excellent type numbers and PL. Fuelup: Epic x Russel x Boliver. I admire any sire stack with Boliver. Good Cheese merit, excellent health traits and low SCE. Potential: Hill x Freddie x Jetstream. I realize you already have Oman in the pedigree but this would be an opportunity to linebreed to Oman. huge production numbers with this sire, proven sire stack, excellent health traits. Showtime *RC: Showdown x Domain x Shottle. very unique pedigree that goes back to Debutant rae family combined with the Outside Dabble family. Low SCS and solid production figures. Proven cow family top and bottom. Excellent type at +2.88. very unique bull GUS: Hadrain x Scoop x Morty: Very complete package of production, type, health traits. Unique sire stack. Plenty of strength. Extreme for Fat. Low SCE. Welded on udders BOWSER: Jetstream x bolivar x Outside. Proven sire stack. No shuttle, planet, Goldwyn or Oman. Huge SCR. Welded on udders. Low Calving Ease.Beautiful first crop daughters FAVRE: Boliver x Outside x Durham. Excellent production and sky high type. silky daughters with beautiful udders and frames. will add strength and he is also solid for PL. GRENADE: Marion x Outside x Oscar. Top notch sire stack, he has huge production numbers. Very powerful, deep and wide framed cows. Highly rated for feet and legs. Caution on calving ease UPSTATE: No shuttle, Oman, Planet, or Goldwyn. Armstead x Tredway x Diehard. Excellent FLC and good fat %. Strong, wide rumped cows. DORCY: Bolton x Bret x Rudolph. At ABS, he needs no introduction. The best proven bull for commercial cattle right now. Balanced type numbers too SHERAC: Active x Shottle x Roy. Very balanced pedigree and Boss Iron up top. He is at ABS Global. Over +1000 on milk. Excellent DPR and PL. Low calving ease. PONDER: Lithium x Russell x Wizard. A De-Su bull at select sires. Unique sire stack. Huge PL and DPR with exceptional production. Very low calving ease DICTATE: Mixer x Garret x Shottle at Select Sires. Correct legs, deep/wide frames, moderate production nondisclosed_email@example.com (dabble1980)Tue, 29 Jul 2014 14:36:06 +0000 Re: What would you breed this heifer to?https://bcowtalk.runboard.com/p437673,from=rss#post437673https://bcowtalk.runboard.com/p437673,from=rss#post437673How about de volmer Elmo No goldwyn, Oman or planet.
