Expo
Is there a up coming bull that's going to sire
a few in the calf class's? I think Brokaw will
show up in the young stock strong. I can't even
think of any others. Even in the reds.

Doesn't sound to well with all the (nearly) 4.0 PTAT bulls around.

Re: Expo
Bring back Quality Ultimate, Black Eagle and all the Browndale bulls, that ought to help Caviar. better yet, become an accredited judge and spread your expertise and influence from the inside of the ring. Otherwise I just hear a lot of noise that sounds a lot like whining and complaining. I really don't care that much about showing cows, and I think most of them are anorexic to a fault, but one line negative comments are getting a little old and tiresome.

Re: Expo
I forgot about doorman. I haven't seen to many of them
yet. Black must be a commercial breeder I take
it. I get a kick out of the commercial guys. Should start
commenting on some of the commercial bulls they talk
about. Wow 0.50 in type if I wanted to breed using
beef I would use Angus. lol

Re:
I think Doorman will sire one or two in the top 10 but there really is not that many calves with the quality to compete at a show like Expo besides for the 2 to 3 that have shown so far this year.
I think you'll start to see the ARMANI calves come out in force this year at expo
BROKAW will also have some quality calves
Goldchip will have some lookers in the cow classes
Going to see more of the same sires who are older now: Goldwyn, SID, Atwood, Braxton, Windbrook, Fever,

So because they don't have the type you like they should be considered 'beef' bulls??
I don't know too many, or any, beef breeds that milk well enough to leave good profit margins
We bred for 'type' for years and all we got was a fancy herd of unprofitable cows that struggled to go in calf, give me sound commercial type any day of the week.

Bit stressed today?? I just wonder why top genomic PTAT bulls don't generate top show calves. The pedigrees of the over 4.0 PTAT bulls are mostly show type pedigrees. I have thought about this and I think this is because a lot of 4.0 PTAT bulls are very unbalanced in their breeding pattern. Most of them have high pins (and lack strength), and one generations of higher pins might be OK, but most show cows already have undesirable pins, and then adding another generation of high pins makes it even for US judges unacceptable. Nice example is that the best Atwoods are from Chief Adeen, the perfect complementary mating. Powerhouse with big square rump Chief Adeen mated to the style of Atwood and if you're lucky then you have the best of both worlds.
And no I'm not part of the show circuit, I have no idea how to judge a cow, and worse I'm not good at speaking in public. I just try to breed a small herd of cows I like, and just comment on the IMO unfavorable direction the breed is heading. I don't want to go back to the Ultimate type of cow (I breed most of my cows to Glauco, Goldsun, Hvezda and Absolute), I would just like a bit more balance in breeding, instead of this funny but crazy ratrace at some very unreliable genomic numbers.
