It's not like the computer actually decides what the score is.
AFAIK how it works is it will give a final score range after he's put in all the traits the final score can be moved up or down a point, so that VG cow could have been put down to 84, but the classifier was probably happy with it and left it as is.
Most likely saying the computer decides the score makes 90% of people go "oh that's cool" and just accept it.
I am sure the breed wont be hurt by a 11th calver getting her VG. The took a fair few traits off the G79 score lock (i.e. webbed teat) a few years back, was bottle teat one of those too?

As far as I'm concerned it's the human element that is the problem with classifiing not the computer.

Re: Expo results
The classifiers know how to get that final score to show up. That is why when you get the linear score and go back and look at the cow after he left many times you will be left scratching your head. Sometimes the idea is to move very quickly. If they sense that a cow is special or that you are going to be up in their grill over a score, they are more deliberate. The last set we did I knew we had a good group, and he did his work with a smile, and the final scores were fair, but some of the linears were all over the place.

Re:
Just to clarify, the linears in the US do not correlate or have any effect on the final score. The breakdowns (udder, legs, front end capacity, dairy strength, and rump) are weighted and add up to a final score. Also, I think sometimes people don't always understand how they are linear scoring cows. An udder depth score of 10 out of 50 may sound terrible, but in an older cow may be perfectly acceptable. Also, traits such as foot angle and rear legs side view - 25 is preferable over 50 or 5.
