Pricing Old Embryos

Hi All,
I'm not sure where to post this so I'm posting it here. Recently a local dairyman passed away. He had been our Semex salesman and a member of our church (at one time he was our pastor) his children had helped on the farm growing up but mostly aren't involved in the dairy industry anymore. He had a bunch of old eggs in the tank and they don't know how to price them or if there's interest in the embryos or not. Two of his sons are my uncles and one of them asked me if I could help find out if there is any interest in the embryos of if anyone has an idea of what the value is.
As far as I can tell most of the embryos are from Cove-Run Temptation Babe Gem EX93 [sign in to see URL]. She's a Temptation x VG88 x EX93 x VG85. The embryos are sired by Prelude, Astro (I assume Astro Jet), Warden, Inspiration, Lee, Lieutenant and Inspiration.
Other embryos are sired by Advent, Aspen, Thunder, Starbuck, September Storm and Elevation.
There are 39 embryos in all. I don't know the dams of all of the embryos but I do know that he had a very good herd of cattle and in 1994 he was inducted into the Maryland Agriculture Hall of Fame.
Thanks in advance for any help

I know this will draw the ire of some, but $50 to $100 seems about right. Now, the right person may be willing to pay a little more, but the pedigree is obviously outdated by now. List them on a Facebook page or an ad in the Cattle Connection for not much money if you want to go fishing for more. Use them on problem breeders possibly to create some calves, and market the heifers on some local sales if you feel they may have more value, but I would say they have very limited appeal.

Look at [sign in to see URL], they had coverage of the Reno Spa-Tacular Sale. Ocean-View sold an array of aged frozen embryos. Including eggs from Ocean-View Lindy Sheen. Some were DT and some were Conventional, which is a very big deal for me. They were out of notable names, and brought between $50-$125/egg. This may sound like an insult, but they are pretty much useless unless you can find a guy who wants vintage eggs.

You might try Jason Lamoreaux at [sign in to see URL] He runs nearly monthly online embryo auctions. Sometimes I see museum pieces on there that sell ok.

Thank you both, as far as pricing that's around what I was thinking but I wanted to check into it a little more for them. I will pass the information along.

with out the dams DNA those embryos are going to cost someone a pretty penny to parentage verify all resultant offspring via comparative DNA.
So I'm thinking they are not going to be worth much.
(took me 5 years to get 2 sons of country eliegay parentage verified because the lab in texas that had done the bloodtyping had gone broke and tossed the results of all animals.I had to call all kinds of people to get them to dna animals )

What did you end up doing with the older embryos.

I'm not sure what they did with the embryos. I know they sold some of the semen to Triple-Hill Sires. If there is interest in the embryos though I would be glad to find out if they are still available.
