Re:

Comparing preliminary results, the Foske son does have a better type score but is still negative for type. More strength on the Foske, slightly more shallow udders. About what you'd expect if you compare Tangvoll and Foske on their home country type proof.

Pell-Pers X Napier?? You're in danger of becoming a type breeder, Jonny emoticon

Never fear, Pell Pers is [sign in to see URL] PTAT on the American system emoticon

But yeah, I did use a little Napier a few years back. Two fresh now, the dam of the calf I'm testing seems OK. Like other Ayrshires without Scandinavian blood she isn't the heaviest milking heifer, but has a nice udder.

Pell Pers on the other hand will make a pretty big impact on my herd. Great bull for semen fertility so while I've gone on to bulls like Donato on my heifers, Pell Pers is a good bull to use in warm weather.

I haven't received the final results yet. I imagine they will coincide with new proofs this week.

Production proof is up on the Foske:
]Link

$645 net merit
+1899 lbs milk
+84 lbs fat
+71 lbs protein
+2.3 productive life
+4.9 daughter pregnancy rate

This pretty much clinches that I'll at least get the bull collected one way or another.

Do you hope to market him through SDBs again?

No, they will not be marketing him. No concrete plans as of yet, I will probably get semen collected one way or another this fall.

I see that he's a 0 on type - that's quite impressive on the Ayrshire base for a Foske (0.2) x Raastad ([sign in to see URL]).

Out of interest what was his preliminary NM$ and how much higher is his final $645 than the preliminary figure?

He compares well with all but a handful of the imported sires.
