Don't really use any of the old Bulls unless it's a last stitch effort before Zumbrota.

Re: Flashback: Who was the best Starbuck son?
Hanoverhill Stardom would be my favorite, great family, great health. His only realy minus would be his BLAD status... Way underrated all his life and even after, such a pity.
Then I do truly like Lincoln too (we don't often agree, BlackCaviar, right? but on that one I'm fully with you). I can recall not that tall cows, strong, with this extra bit of body condition and they were also a bit slow maturing which is not to displease me. Also an underrated one if you ask.
As for the most influential ones, well Aerostar's legacy is bloody obvious but Besne Buck (in Europe mostly) and Prelude especially could really compete. Makes me remember when I was supporting Prelude years ago when it was all about Mascot. One was called a failure and the other a success, now it's kind of going the other way... just imagine Shottle were sired by Igale Masc and Outside by Mattie...

HANOVERHILL VICTOR
He was an Inspiration x Triple Threat, quite linebred on Hanoverhill bloodlines - Barbs (which is always a good thing!).
Apart from this small details, thank you Pölytechnic for your flashback topics, both fun and very interesting, much appreciated!

Re:
We had really good luck with Astre, not many bulls have them in their pedigree now (Superstition does) but the maternal side of our cows do.

Re: Flashback: Who was the best Starbuck son?
I was close to buy some Mr Manhattan back then but went instead for the good old local Starbuck son instead. Forgot him before and to be fair he deserves to join the list of my favorite Starbuck sons. We knew him as Coypel but you may find him as Oakwald Louis on CDN, he was canadian born and sampled in France. Out of a Sheik daughter. His heifers were growing a bit too fast, a bit too fat sometimes but as cows they were great so I went back to him in the early 00's.
Another local Starbuck son that may deserves his place on my list is Batman, french bred, owned and sampled, out of a Cutlass x Willow Farm Rockman Ivanhoe. Not as good looking as the Coypels but they were unbreakable and he could correct any udder on earth. At one moment my two oldest were by him. Sort of an unsung hero too.

Re:
Thanks AVHP!! I guess I should have double checked with Victor; too many Hanoverhill bulls can get confusing.
I didn't include Clyde mostly because my dad has told me that the daughters of that bull had poor udders (probably got it from his Chief dam).
It's kind of interesting that Aerostar went on to have such impact, when examined closely he had a number of flaws: mediocre udders, very high pins and frail. I guess though that some farmers knew how to cross him right, so his progeny went on to be far better.
Prelude's proof crashed once his second crop daughters came, yet he still went on to be the father of Outside and Mtoto. Those two bulls alone secured his legacy, and what great bulls they where!!!

@ Minnesota56062 and @blackcaviar,
why use nowadays Stardust? What good bull/cows have Stardust in the pedigree ?? I can't name one...
Red Marker is by Stardust out of Blackrose. Generally Stardust was a cow breeder, not a bull breeder as you cannot sell semen from these kinda bulls. He was top of the bill for type in his days, now he still is top of the bill for true dairy strength (which is not so difficult these days).
