Re: No-Fla interview in HI
Impression is a great bull- we have used him quite extensively.
The only problem with Italian bulls, is that as much as I admire and respect their breeding philosophy, for some reason the Accelerated distributor in my country who brought Italian genetics simply doesn't anymore.
Sadly, in part due to how far away I am from Europe (and maybe also because I farm in the developing world) I can't get much European genetics apart from Swissgenetics or Aberekin.

Re:
The two Italian bull companies that started Semenzoo split apart not too long ago, there may not be a distributor for intermizoo in your area yet.

B&W99, Boliver is not an Outside son. He is an Out-Jock Choice Amel x Mathie x Leadman.

Re: No-Fla interview in HI
Arpagon,
I agree with your point about whether the bulls I listed are outcross or not.
Zamagni was Holstein International's outcross bull of the year.
None of the bulls I listed had Mogul, Robust, Planet, Shottle or Goldwyn. Only Zamagni has a little Oman in via his sire, Superstition.
I had an email a couple of days ago trying to sell me Mr Rubi-Argonaut ( Rubicon x Shotglass x Shamrock). The sender of the email claimed Argonaut was an outcross!!

Re: No-Fla interview in HI
Recently read the article again. The fact that they do not look at udder composite at all just because it has a high correlation with stature is baffling to me. The only udder trait affected by stature is udder depth. Every other udder trait will be the same whether the cow is 58 inches tall or 64. While I do agree that too tall is bad, some of the ideas that were mentioned in the article make absolutely no sense to me.

Re: No-Fla interview in HI
I know there is a correlation of high rear udders to high tail heads and high tail head lower fertility

Re: No-Fla interview in HI
Escocito,
The point about correlation of udder composite and stature is that as a rule taller animals get higher classification scores than small animals. As a result of this the type proofs of bulls that sire tall daughters get, on average, higher udder scores than type proofs of bulls that sire small cows.
Does the average tall cow have a better udder than the average small cow? Unlikely.
Don Bennink is dismissive of type proofs for udder and feet and legs because of this systemic bias toward stature.
