Any thoughts on him? Perhaps wait until there are more daughters in his proof?

I have a Montross x Niagra bulling heifer. Very strong wide rump and chest not extreme either. Would be tempted to use some more.

Looks overrated, just like daddy.

Mogul overrated errolston? You been living under a rock? He is close up in the pedigree of 40 of the top 50 genomic TPI Bulls in the last round.

Re: Montross

I milk 3 Moguls. They are all cows that have problems with Mastitis and they are all difficult to get in calf.

Not exactly the kind of cows I like to milk.

The genomic system is a totally self fulfilling prophecy.

Take a look at Mogul's pedigree. It is full of bulls that were rubbish: Bolton, Pasen Marsh, Dixie-Lee Aaron, Luke, Bellwood, Mascot. His poor health traits shouldn't be a surprise.

Holstein International had a breeder's round table interview earlier in the year where they interviewed Sandy-Valley, Pine-Tree and No-Fla amongst others. In the interview Greg Bauer stated that if he ran a commercial herd that he would probably use 100% proven bulls because of the consistent disappointment with the SCC, DPR and Sire Calving Ease predictions of genomic bulls. He went on to say that he studies the pedigree of genomic bulls now to try and predict where a bull will end up for the 3 traits he was frustrated with.

We have 2 milking Moguls and 15 more due within the next year , we have no problems with them one has a scc of 26 and 38 which I thought was ok.
Errolston you should know some bulls work well on some herds ,and not as well on others plus he is half the mating as your moguls also have a mother.

Re: Montross

2 of my Moguls are full sisters from a Man-O-Man that is in it's fourth lactation. The MOM has never had a case of mastitis or been a problem breeder. I bought my other Mogul and it's mother had ten calves. I assume the mother was never a big problem for mastitis or fertility or she likely wouldn't have stuck around that long.

27 days. Probably give it a bit more time than that before claiming a success.
