Early calving ease here he is extreme, which is no surprise. Had a bloke tell us mid last year that he was very surprised when his heifers were all calving a week or so early.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Craigalea)Mon, 10 Apr 2017 04:57:44 +0000 Re:https://bcowtalk.runboard.com/p443910,from=rss#post443910https://bcowtalk.runboard.com/p443910,from=rss#post443910Sold him as a young sire back in the day, just prior to genomics. Planet was all the rage and the pedigree of Planet x Oman x Blitz x Durham, was too much for a WWS rep to resist. Sold a lot of him. He ended up with a fair proof with excellent calving ease and breed leading DPR. Base changes did him no favours type wise, and he would have probably faded into obscurity, if not for his New Zealand proof, which was exceptional - big milk and kilograms solids with extreme daughter fertility and a Gestation Length BV of -10 days. We had daughters in milk by then, they got the job done and thus his career has been prolonged at a tail end bull in seasonal calving systems. nondisclosed_email@example.com (smous)Sun, 09 Apr 2017 20:25:53 +0000 Re: Fir-Ridge Planet Plutohttps://bcowtalk.runboard.com/p443896,from=rss#post443896https://bcowtalk.runboard.com/p443896,from=rss#post443896Really nice pictures. I had never heard of this bull so I looked him up. I am curious as to what made you use him in the first place? Apart from high daughter fertility he doesn't look like a bull you would pick out from a brochure. I would have thought "just another Planet x Oman".nondisclosed_email@example.com (errolston)Sun, 09 Apr 2017 10:39:10 +0000 Re: Fir-Ridge Planet Plutohttps://bcowtalk.runboard.com/p443895,from=rss#post443895https://bcowtalk.runboard.com/p443895,from=rss#post443895Yup, we have being doing the same for a couple of seasons now.nondisclosed_email@example.com (smous)Sat, 08 Apr 2017 17:40:31 +0000 Re:https://bcowtalk.runboard.com/p443892,from=rss#post443892https://bcowtalk.runboard.com/p443892,from=rss#post443892Nice, he's come up as a short gestation bull too, so I was looking at using him late in the season for tightening up calving patterns.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Craigalea)Sat, 08 Apr 2017 09:59:46 +0000 Re: Fir-Ridge Planet Plutohttps://bcowtalk.runboard.com/p443891,from=rss#post443891https://bcowtalk.runboard.com/p443891,from=rss#post443891Heaps in this neck of the woods. Good cows, easier keepers than his sire. Not the smallest cows, udders way better than his linear. Genuinely fertile. nondisclosed_email@example.com (smous)Sat, 08 Apr 2017 08:41:51 +0000 Fir-Ridge Planet Plutohttps://bcowtalk.runboard.com/p443890,from=rss#post443890https://bcowtalk.runboard.com/p443890,from=rss#post443890Anyone milking any Plutos? nondisclosed_email@example.com (Craigalea)Fri, 07 Apr 2017 23:35:23 +0000
