Butter shortage

With the rising demand in dairy fats, and the low supply in them. Does anyone think that the increase in dairy prices will help reduce the demand for this product?

Re: Butter shortage

That is the million dollar question.

So far branded butter in the UK has shown only a modest price increase at retail level. Although supermarket "own brand" butters have risen significantly, but from a much lower base price.

I sincerely hope that the price rise doesn't kill the demand. It would be nice if this was a permanent feature of the dairy market. It could provide some support when the price to the farmer heads south again, as we can be sure it will.

I agree with you completely. Despite the increase in dairy fats, I believe that consumers will still buy into it. Although, if prices do continue to grow with the butter shortage there is the possibility that inflation could slow down demand.
