Bulls that sired great longevity. Ugela Bell and Skywalker were particularly great feet and leg bulls.nondisclosed_email@example.com (errolston)Sun, 17 Mar 2019 13:36:18 +0000 Re: If you could go back...https://bcowtalk.runboard.com/p444241,from=rss#post444241https://bcowtalk.runboard.com/p444241,from=rss#post444241Sexation sons and Pen-Col Wayne Ben, a Wayne son we had in France and sired really great cattle. His son Chou was also a great bull. Far away from all the Fatals and the Jockos that made our genetics popular once.nondisclosed_email@example.com (AHVP)Sat, 02 Mar 2019 10:23:29 +0000 Re: If you could go back...https://bcowtalk.runboard.com/p444234,from=rss#post444234https://bcowtalk.runboard.com/p444234,from=rss#post444234One bull from the past that never gets mentioned that i think had potential but may of lacked the bloodlines to work with him in the past would be the Glendell son Lonsfarm Kay Elevator. nondisclosed_email@example.com (KINGMAMBO)Wed, 27 Feb 2019 11:23:37 +0000 Re: If you could go back...https://bcowtalk.runboard.com/p444233,from=rss#post444233https://bcowtalk.runboard.com/p444233,from=rss#post444233Elton Calving ease, moderate size. I had,for around 10 or 12 years begun to use some old timers in my herd. Crisscross, Performer, Ivanhoe Star, Elevation, Citation R and more. My feeding program had changed to a more pasture driven strategy and using bulls from that era just seemed to make sense. To answer your question on which bull I wished I had used more of... It would be my home bred (Citation R X VG87 Astro Jet) son named, Sovereign. After he had bred one set of heifers I had the opportunity to sell him to another dairyman. His daughters were bigger, longer, stronger, more dairy, and better uddered than there dams. Two AI bulls I had two daughters each of were; Browndale Maverick and Vincent View Marvation. Very nicely put together and milked like crazy. Wish I would have used more of them, also.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Formerfarmer)Thu, 14 Feb 2019 03:42:05 +0000 If you could go back...https://bcowtalk.runboard.com/p444219,from=rss#post444219https://bcowtalk.runboard.com/p444219,from=rss#post444219If you could go back and use one bull or two bulls that you missed or did not use enough of, or not use one bull that you selected to use which bulls would they be and why? At the farm I work at I wish we had used more Sanchez and Guthrie. Sanchez provided frame with extreme milk, he could change frame in one generation. The Guthries mature well and get better with age. Many are still around at 6-7 years old. I wish we had not used Supersire. They are sloppier in their udders and do not have great feet and legs. They also in our herd tend to be high for somatic cell. We also did not have much success with the Planet sons. They left cows that were far too frail and although they had the ability to milk many did not last due to their extreme lack of strength. nondisclosed_email@example.com (Escocito)Mon, 11 Feb 2019 14:12:04 +0000
