Nice to see someone is still out there. Hard for me to report much. My only cow, a Deep-Valley Contender-Red, had her first calf in May. Taller, better feet and legs, higher and wider rear udder, fore udder is short but well attached, not as deep in the chest, and not quite as dairy as her dam. Her calf is out of Mr Leaninghouse Ammo P. Hard top, very deep and open rib, not especially wide in the rump or chest. Decent heifer.

Hi Foxleigh,

Mapel Wood Brewmaster daughters have been outstanding here. We are milking 7, I think(!), and they have all scored VG85 or higher as heifers. We have loads more in the pipeline. We used a lot of him because of his his really high fat index, plus he is 426 aAa code which worked for a number of our cows.

He could be as good a bull as we have ever used.

I am also milking a lot of Seagull-Bay Supersire daughters and I am really happy with them. Their type is much better than I expected, although most of them have pretty nice dams. They are milky heifers and have worked well on stronger cows with good udders.

Mark Day, remember him(???), briefly sold semen from polled bulls. I bought some semen from him from a German polled bull called Balu (Long P x Full sister to Ladd P). I only have 2 heifers milking by him but I really like them. Very balanced, milky heifers, with a nice amount of strength. You don't hear anything about this bull anymore though.

thankyou for your time to reply.
re. deep valley contender.... probably have the last couple of hundred straws in captivity in Australia for sale as the bull is dead.we came late too using him s he had used contender quite heavily (that year the cows got either aftershock or contender)and most remained but were quite strong animals and a bit set.So we didn't use him until the wilonna ones were on 3rd calf and most around her have calved.mine are coming up to joining age and are frailer than the straight contenders. couple are high pinned already.wont be using more here.
I shall look into brewmaster as we are again struggling for bulls to use.

our 2019 heifers were by
foxleigh triple ace (threat x Goldwyn x zenith x lana rae all ex) at peel valley AB

foxleigh leasharaes threat full bro at home

fustead Guthrie

foxleigh lass counsellor ( 30 yo homebred sire frozen semen)
foxleigh liberator (Damion x starbuck x durham x lanarae)

I have heard good reports about Aikman daughters.

What is the milking speed like on the Aikman daughters?

I really like them, some have calved for the second time and are developing nicely. From memory, most made vg 2yr.
One slow milker but bred from a slow milking Shottle. Otherwise no problems to report.
