Re: INCH Herd Dispersal
Maybe when you get a chance Jim you wouldn't mind writing up a few of the prices for us all to look at?
I'm glad to hear that you're happy with your prices, I'm sure Willie did his darndest, it is unfortunate though that more buyers from across the water didn't attend, and that buyers from accross the 'border' find it so difficult to buy here.
Does Smiddiehill fully classify as 'outside Northern Ireland'? I was at their old place outside Newtownards, new parlour is a fantastic set-up, 28/28, milked 280 cows in 1.5 - 2 hours (2men) all pipework, meters etc in basement below pit, feed passage is a water tank for rainwater off roofs (water used for wash-down) I was well impressed.

Re: INCH Herd Dispersal
The smiddiehill in newtownards is owned by Will Corrie. It is the original farm where ian Montgomery was brought up.
When he moved to England he brought his prefix to the new farm. When he sold up a couple of years ago the new buyers bought the farm and the prefix. Therefore Smiddiehill herd in England now has no direct link to the original Smiddiehill farm in NI.
I hope this clarifies.

Re: INCH Herd Dispersal
The calf was a full sister to Storm Daphne, 6 months old. Made 2,600, I think.

:soss I must apologise alan, I should have clarified it better, Will Corries farm at Newtownards is Smiddiehill Farm, they retained the name (not the prefix)
What I meant was that Smiddiehill Holsteins originated here, so therefore they know the quality of breeding here and as a result are not reluctant to come over to sales like Jim's and pick up a bargain or two!
Storm Daphne's full sister was bound to do well, if any of you have seen Storm Daphne you'd know why, if we had third lactation cows which looked half as good as she does, having done FIVE (or is it six Jim?) I'd be happy! :sa
