Daisysdad - He is easily Rentinas best son, but he unfortunatly produces very high pins just like his sire. His proof is alright, and I will go out on a limb here and predict, 5yrs from now his type & production, will both be higher than Redmans.

It is a wide spread problem in the holstein breed, although any cow with only moderatly high pins may never be any problem. High pins usually get worse after every calf, causeing the cow to not properly drain, after calving, which leads to all sorts of unpleasant problems. Rubens is a master of very high pins, (a few also have dodgy fore udders)and although I like the bull(a lot) his sons don't appeal to me yet. There may be one to come along, but so far in my opinion, none so far are as good as Rubens himself, but NEVER breed him into a family known for high pins.
