Re: Red and White Sires

I have just seen a bull advertised RC and i dont belive he is.His name is Startit and i have read things about him stating he is probaly not a Red Carrier because he does not have a trace of RED for 7 generations. He probaly has Black Red from Storm. This is as bad as people registring animals Red when they are Black Red.To me this is plain stupid and should be stoped without question!.

Have a true red Ron-Nan Mario cow, she has already had 4 heifers from 3 calvings. This time she will be bred to either a red sire or a rc sire. Have got hold of a few straws of Sept Storm ,may also be tempted with Jordan as she could do with being a bit stronger and a stronger ligament (also have some Apina Millennium floating round the AI flask). Anyone got any other ideas ???

Will - love the Sept Storms I see, but if your cow needs strength I'm not sure that he does that consistantly. Have never heard of Apina Millennium but would be tempted to use him insteat of Jorden, something just doesn't seem right about a bull that gets a 3 page full color add, in a breed mag, and claim that his semen is sold out in another, why would they do that?

Is anyone actually purchasing semen from that Startit bull because of his red factor?? this would indeed not be a good idea, the Red Bloodlines, have questioned his RC statis, and are warning people about his non red pedigree. Seems kind of ballsy to be able to actually advertise him as a red carrier, hope they are prepaired to refund some angry customers. Also have to agree calling a black/red calf R&W, is a very bad idea, and somehow our breed societys have to come up with some way of stopping this from happening, it is false advertising as well.

Excalibur Sires carries Startit in the U.S. and I couldn't find on their website where it says he is a RC. They have pictures of 5 daughters on there and one of them has quite a bit of red kind of like some of the old Astro Jets did. I would also assume this just comes from Storm. We had the Cinderella cow and sold some embryos that resulted in Startit. I don't have any knowledge of there being any other Red Carriers in the family, so it does seem a bit strange.

If you use a Red bull on a cow that was born red but turned black, will the calf be true red?

It depends on the breeding of the cow. If she is out of a red or red carrier cow and comes out black red colour she can have red cavles. Look at the genetic charts on www.redandwhitecattle.com

Have seen quite a few Millennium daughters and the bull himself. He throws quite a bit of variation and needs protection on udders and legs and feet. He will give some big framed cows.

Bull himself is extremely deep bodied.
