Although Royale have her thurls placed too far back I still think her feet and legs are sounder than Madisa's plus Royale has an advantage in veining over Madisa but Madisa has been touched up by a far superior fitting crew
Princes need a little more maturity to place higher.
as for Jacoba I can only agree with Gerbrich, there's better red ones in Holland.
Shania, well, she just don't impress me much

Re: R&W contest
I have seen Jacoba several times and I wouldn't say she is a bad cow though at nine years of age and having given over 80,000kgs. I think many farmers would like to milk cows like her.

Re: R&W contest
1) Chicoutimi
2) Parade
3) Dorothe
4) Fanatiscka
5) Madisa
6) Princes
7) Jacoba
8) Royale
9) Shania
1 over 2 because a Better Easy-Walking, Better Dairy Caracters, Better Legs Bone Quality.
2 over 3 beacuse Better Udder (Best Udder in the class) and Better Head and Neck
3 over 4 for better Legs, Rear Udder and Height at Front End
4 over 5 more Strenght and Better Pasterns
5 is a really Silky cow but needs a bit more strenght.
(I would not comment the others in a Show Class)
5 over 6 more Mature Cow
6 over 7 more Balanced, Less Problems
7 over 8 Dairy caracters
8 over 9 Overall Balance

Re: R&W contest
#1 Dorothee - Germany
#2 Parade - USA
#3 Chicoutimi - Switzerland
#4 Fanatiscka - Czech
#5 Madisa - Canada
#6 Jacoba - Netherlands
#7 Royale - France
#8 Princes - Luxemburg
#9 Shania - Denmark
Cow #1 just has more maturity to be champion than #2,(no doubt in my mind that #2 stood againt the hardest competition, to win at Madison) but you could switch the top 3 any way you like, and I could live with it. They are the only 3 worthey of consideration for Champion. (my opinion)
#4 & #5 you could switch also but these 2 definaty belong in the next group.#4 more style, dairyness, better udder (maybe), and set to her legs. #5 More frame, better heel and pasturn, especally on her front feet, than #4. I agree with Broa a better photo of #4 would have been nice, and looking at #5, you can't help but wonder what she would look like in her working clothes.
#6 & #7 - #6 great old cow anyone would be proud to own,(she is just past her prime, maybe her only fault) #7 also a good cow, but #6 beats her on length alone, and after 1 or 2 more calves #7s rear udder will not likely be as functional as #6.
#8 - looks like a 81-82 pt cow to me
#9 - 80pts tops
For those who breed cows, and say they do care what a cow looks like, the top 3, out produce the bottom 3 by a wide margin, and striving to breed cows like these, is truely something to be proud of, its what makes it all worth while.

I would love to milk a barnful of cows like Jacoba.
When I said that there are better red ones in Holland I meant cows with the crisp, youthful beauty that is so important in the show ring but hardly nowhere else
Canuk worded it just right
"great old cow anyone would be proud to own,(she is just past her prime, maybe her only fault)"

It is all a matter of Personal Taste.

R&W contest
I resisted opening this thread (i.e. after Canuk's initial post) till my HI arrived. I had them Dorothee, Parade, Jacoba, despite her age.
