Jordan Red

Has anyone been able to get red heifers form this bull yet? (or are they mostly black heifers and red bulls emoticon )

I managed to rustle up 10 straws of him at dairy week (with great difficulty) then gained an extra 14 two days ago. has anyone seen milking daughters?
What type of cow is he best used on? (im thinking open ribbed, flat boned, angular cow)

I have his usa proof from select so protecting for cell count seems preferrable, does anyone know where i can get milking speed, and temperament ratings on this bull?

Thanks in advance H

Re: Jordan Red

We have Jordan red daughters at almost bulling age.

The oldest is long , not tall , good legs and [sign in to see URL] like her own family line than his perhaps.( 3 generations EX ,late maturing ,late growing cows behind her).Very small teats and no layers at all at the moment.

Jordan`s dam is a Hurl 4 Momentum red - we have several daughters here ( few people used him in UK) . Generally I like them but he threw very different types.
For example we have one ( GP83 as a heifer - shoulda bin VG if ever I had one) who is from an Integrity ( died after caesar 1st calf) out of Milestone out of Cloverlands Skyler Cherry.

This animal is big , square and powerful with neat udder and small [sign in to see URL] feet , some set to leg.
Her full brother ( red ) was small blocky - dumpy really - and bred exactly that.
Out of our ayrshires we have several Momentums - they are all milky , some very low fat , some small . Great feet , some have tendency to wide necked teats at calving tho teats are generally very short.

Jordan-red`s G-dam is a Caveman , who is one of my favourite bulls . As heifers they are too tight , square and a bit thick , but they mature into long wearing powerful cows with great fats and proteins, excellent feet and [sign in to see URL] extremely well, have to stress that.

The unknown with Jordan Red is his Dad Phideaux who never came over here.

Re: Jordan Red

Every cow that has calved to Jordan Red has had a heifer calf, although one was a twin to a bull. I think we have 7, 3 Red, 2 Black Red and 2 Black.

We have a really fancy red heifer by him she should be one to watch as a junior 2 year old this fall. And yes protect him for dairyness and you should be ok.

I would agree with that, without dairyness you get a herford.

This is the Jordan red we have - very growthy for her age of May '05 & from a VG/H1 Plum Bottom Kates Trident dam... I am undecided about her though as she changes week on week but this pic was taken about the turn of the year.

Anyone milking any yet? we had our first calved couple of weeks ago had a massive red and white september heifer she only 1 y 11m so checked her a bit . Our jordan red is ouy of a swedish red which explains the faults in udder attachment and teat placement other than that plenty dairy enough good feet and legs and good rump . She not going to beat our heifer average but her mother didnt her mother due to kite anyday for her 5th . we just had our last jordan red calf born a black and white heifer out of a integrity we also just had a heifer calf by the jordan red son Cheech.
