Milk price

Just been to the local shop (co-op) and checked the milk price. This was the standard price, no special offers of 'buy one, get one free, gimmicks.

1 litre sells for 57 pence, the farmer gets 18p in this area. basically one third of retail price. buckeyebreeder suggested that his local walmart had a similar price structure, he got 13.90 and it sells at 48.

How does the milk price to farmer and consumer compare in the other countries out there ?

Re: Milk price

Have a look at following site:

http://www.milkprices.nl/

they do a monthly milkprice comparison.

I bought a litre of milk for €0.77 today. I believe farmers are getting around €0.30.

Supermarkets started a price war yesterday in the Netherlands. Very likely the farmers are going to be the one's to suffer.
