What to do!

Today i had an idea. im thinking buy some embryo's and a few heifers and some good semen, mix them all together and make a few good babies. first problem i thought of was that there might not be a market for a specific cow family i might use so this is where aussie dudes can help me. what embrio/semen should i use in oz to make a decent profit off a sale, can't be worth so much that no ordinary farmer will buy, and not too little that theres not much profit margin, suggestions from everyone welcome. remember-for aussie market.

i wouldnt be buying anything that I wouldnt be prepared to use the bull calf back on my own herd.i would work on 1 heifer per 4 embryos - if you get more it's a bonus none too bad!
personally we have been buying our own embryos direct from the breeder no middle men.
in the past have tried to buy embryos from australian breeders but cant get any interest, almost as tho they frightened that u might get a good one!!
u need a good knowledge of import protocol before u buy!

price range - sky is the limit!!!
what can you afford? (this is where you haggle and watch the exchange rate on daily basis)
generally pay up to A$1000 per egg plus costs

buy the best you can. No one wants average. Go with high Index cattle there is always Value in those cows, and if they dont sell then you have realy good milk cows. The bulls would have a better chance in going into stud. very few show bulls make it. Try to sell a few and keep a few for flushing for your farm and sell some of those Embryos people will buy high Index before they will buy show type with no milk. Index cows will sell off your farm with good marketing. Type cows need to be marketed and showed for good results.

Yes your maiden heifers are the best. But the problem is the calving ease. On non calving ease bulls implant into beef cattle. if you have to cut them open, there beef so your off to a good start with the first cut.

Buy from proven cows with a few EX in the ped. good production, fat, and protien,You want cows that score good and are high on the LPI, CTPI list or what ever method you have of Index scores. you need to lean twords extreem, some thing that is hot and not everyone gots. Try to buy out of the top TEN cows in the breed from new hot bulls.

bulls are reasonably cheap compared to eggs, wheres the best place to buy from. NZ, canada, uk, aust?????? almost readily available here.

should i look at the dams ped. and find some weaknesses to try and strengthen? or go by what others say about a good match?
