Local Milk Promotion

What kind of things do some of you do to promote milk consumption at a local level? Sometimes I think many of us are happy just to give at the office through are checkoff dollars. I am involved in a booster group that works throughout the year on projects to raise the profile of dairy products in our area. What kinds of things do some of you do?

Whether its type or index the bottom line is that all must milk.

Bucky,

That is a very good idea you have going there. I have no direct, organised involvment in dairy promotion. I do plug it a bit to family and friends, which they probably find irritating.

The closest attachment I have is through my Co-op (3000 members), which advertises products on local TV. Also, Northern Ireland has a dairy promotion council (see Will Maxwell's logo) which draws a small contribution from every litre of milk leaving the farm. One of their promotions is to host annually an international football (soccer) competition for mid-teens, called 'The Milk Cup'. This draws considerable local TV coverage.

Re: Local Milk Promotion

Our milk marketing board takes $1.10 from every HL produced(220lbs), for promotion purposes. In April for me that equalled $512
seems like quite a lot, for a herd of 60 cows, but milk, cheese, & butter, do get a fair amount of air time, radio & TV, as well as mags, papers, & billboards. Has been studies where every $ spent on promotion = ? $ in return, I can't remember the exact figure, but know it is pretty good.

On a much more local level, I just tell people "I've drunk fresh milk all my life and it ain't exactly stunted my growth".

It gets a laugh, but not sure how much more good it does.
