what exactly is old fashioned and inefficient about big bale silage? We feed ours into a ring feeder and have some of the best margins in the area, better than Joe bloggs down the road shoving this and that into a £20,000 feeder, all for an extra thousand litres or so. False economics. Back to basics i say.

Absolutely nothing wrong. I use its close relative, the feed trailer.
The attitude was old fashioned and inefficient - 'I'll feed my bullocks the way my father always fed them, and keep them standing up to the belly in glarr, and I'll moan about the price of beef, and hopefully things will get better for me'.
