Re: Cricket
ok well the documentary I saw on the irish cricket teams last world cup attempt which saw them finish 4th or 5th ranked said only one of their players played for england and implied that the rest , who kept having to ring home and arrange longer leave off of work commitments were not [sign in to see URL] the previous success drew some of the professionals into the mix?The documentary certainly did not cover everyones place of birth.

Re: Cricket
Several of the 2007 team got contracts with English counties after that World Cup, and one went on to be selected for England. He is currently out injured.
A previous player, Ed Joyce, played for Ireland, then went to play for England. he was dropped by England after the 2007 World Cup and is now in ireland's squad for the 2011 Cup.
It's all a bit too complicated for me. I reckon you should play for the country you or your parents were born in, or if you have lived somewhere for at least 10 years. None of this grandparent bit, or living somewhere for 3-4 years.

Re: Cricket
Looks like we`re heading for the exit too. 229 was never going to be enough.

Re: Cricket
Yup, it has been good, you seem to have a battery of good youngsters coming though, but Dhoni showed them how it is done in the last over.

Re: Cricket
Battling to concentrate on Cowtalk this morning as Australia rips through us. Hopefully Du Plessis and Peterson can put up a bit of resistance.

Re: Cricket
Well Smous you must be breathing a little easier after quite an incredible days play! Amla obviously woke up on the right side of the bed. And Du Plessis must be some sort of national hero at the moment. Great series
