Barbee-M Elton Sully

Here is a thread where you can discuss this cow family.

Sully was bred by the Maurers at Barbee-M Holsteins near Botkins, Ohio. She sold in their dispersal ~1995, to a sydicate that included Quietcove Holsteins, Topp-View Holsteins, and the Maurers. She was scored VG88 at the time of their sale and later went on to score EX. She also garned an All-Ohio award as a Mature Cow. She had daughters that sold in several sales including the sale toppers of their dispersal and The Buckeye Classic that year both sired by Gen Ace Petrum LD Elvin. She had a daugther by Choice that put a couple of unsuccessful sons into AI I believe. But the mating that worked the best was of coarse Ked Juror. Not only producing Ito but also Miracle and several other very productive daughters. Miracle is obviously her best daughter, but several other lesser known daughters have crossed 150,000lbs lifetime. She also has another son by Bellwood in the active lineup at Select Sires named Supreme. Currently in demand are branches of the family descending through Barbee M Elvin Sulky at Zimmermans in SouthEastern Ohio. Last year I saw what was to become an 85 point BW Marshall 2 year old from Sulky's Wade daughter sell for a reasonable price. I was not leveraged to buy that day but wish I were now. I understand that her new owners are filling contracts.

Tommorrow I will see several people who invested in her progeny at a meeting I will ask for updates on their branches of the family.

smous, yes Miracle is still alive. She is dry and we are trying to flush her. We flushed her last Friday to Talent but didn't get any good eggs. I'm not sure what her lifetime total is, I will look it up and post it later.

Howie you may be interested to know we are about to land a thousand doses of Mendel in South Africa. We bring in a max of 1000 doses per bull of between 8 and 10 Holstein and 5 or 6 Jersey young sires a year.
