Re: Welcome!

Hi my name is Theresa and I come from Minnesota where my family and I milk 230 grade and registered Holstein cows!

I am currently attending the U of M for ag communications I hope to return to the family farm and work in communications as well! I love the dairy industry and everything it encompasses. I am also very involved in dairy judging and love the shows!

Re: Welcome!

My name is Brock White.I'm 20 years old. I've been around dairy farming for all my life. I've actively showed cattle at county fairs and district shows. I have farmed with my dad milking 80 cows. We sold out in 2007. I have no cows at the moment.I am very closeto buying a dairy farm to start milking cows again emoticon

My goal in farming is to have a succussful registered "showing" herd of Holsteins.I personally advocate the "accelerated" calf growing program.I'm also going to try the Priority-One program when i start up again. I'm also interested in trying a dried bovine colostrum product called Dairy Vita-Pak to keep a strong immune system in the milk cows. Wish me luck as I start my life long dream!

Re: Welcome!

Greetings, My name is Kegan, and I'm 20 years old. I work with my father on the dairy farm in the eastern part of Canada, milking 60 registered Holsteins (total head is about 180). Holstein genetics and pedigrees fascinate me the most. Our breeding goals are to develop high producing cattle, that look good doing it, whilst maintaining great health and fertility.
I've been reading the COWTALK forum for about a year now, and have gleaned a lot of helpful and interesting information along the way. I decided to join and hopefully soon become involved in the future discussions. Cheers!

Re: Welcome!

Hi there - I am Julie farming in BC Canada and I do a bit of farm inspecting in my spare time. I see quite a lot of robots and I can give you a definite thumbs up. The only bit of a downside I heard on a bad robot day - was that it is very difficult dry treating the girls on robots (they are jumpy!!) the robot is picky about teat set - so you pretty much have to tidy up your herd for robot friendly cows - and one grumpy bad robot day expletive was that the technician spends more time on the robot than the cows and may as well have his own comfort stall!!!!!! But for the most part the cows are happy and the so is the owner

Welcome. Beautiful country, Dominican Republic. My wife and I visited there a couple year ago and thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
