Flush choice?
This is one of our best cows,
BICKLEYGATE BELLWOOD LINDERRA PI VG88
Lact. Age Milk Days Fatkg Ptnkg Fat % Ptn % PI
1 02/03 11624 305 509 389 4.38 3.35 155
D: BICKLEYGATE JUROR LINDERRA PI ET VG89 x KED JUROR
2D: ETAZON LINDDERA PI VG85 x HOW-EL-ACRES KIRK BELLMAN
3D: ROTHDALE SEXATION PEGGY PI VG x OCEAN-VIEW SEXATION
4D: WEBOTUCK ELEVATION PAULA PI VG x ROUND OAK RAG APPLE ELEVATION
5D: WEBOTUCK JEWEL PAULA PI VG
We will be flushing her soon and have to decide what to use,She has an amazing rear udder ,a huge amount of rib and awesome dairy character...the areas that need looking at would be rump ..tails a little inset and set of leg..she is a bit straight, also with Bellwood in the pedigree I want to protect for fore udder attach and teat place ment.
The bulls I have in mind are Lancelot,Courier,Lucente and Outside..what would other people suggest?
The picture is poor but hopefully you get the idea

Re: Flush choice?
If she was mine i would have to use Linjet or Red Marker these bulls would put in some much needed type and correct the bad bellwood and bellman blood. But i know type is dirty word to u so i will try my hardest to pick an index bull!.
New world Empire is the only thing half good.

Re: Flush choice?
How about Pinehurst Rock-n-Roll-Red? We've got a bunch of them, and he's just what she needs. If that type of bull doesn't fit your ticket, I agree with Stephen's suggestion of Empire.

Re: Flush choice?
Might be tempted to have a go with Sandy-Valley Forbidden or even Lancelot as you were thinking about. There may just be a slight chance of AI companies being interested in a bull especially if it was by Lancelot. Not sure whether they would be wanting bulls from Bellwood dams ... they will say its old genetics, but the best aint always bred first.

Re: Flush choice?
Linjet or red marker would do a better job than forbidden
with mascot blood behind him this to me would be daft with bellwood mascot and bellman blood together could be a nightmare waiting to happen good luck ! BANG

Re: Flush choice?
I dont think your seeing things clearly here stephen, this is a cow in the Uk where the owner is hoping that he could sell stock (bulls?) from. The market here drives breeding decisions towards index with type being a consideration but not the ultimate. I dont think type is seen as being a dirty word, it just needs to be used in conjunction with index and production potential in this case. Using Linjet or Red Marker in this case just isnt an option as AI companies would just laugh at you if you mentioned these bulls to them. I would go with Outside on this cow should work on that rump and the breeder satisfaction with his daughters could be an influence when selling stock from the flush. Roy may be another option although its 2 crosses of Juror, but wheres the harm in that??

Re: Flush choice?
Mark this may seem like an obvious choice but have you considered gibson?? your cow has definetly enough milk. Gibson is the king in the fore udder department and he should give her a little more depth through the heart.

Re: Flush choice?
I'd go with Gibson too, although I wouldn@t mind guessing that Mark will have a few straws of Lucente lined up for her!!!
Whatever you do it is important to remember the Bellwood influence, and protect the udder even if hers is mind-blowing! Good luck.
