Which bulls

I presume you didnt consider Red Marker :shake In my opinion SV Forbidden calves have arrived and are surprisingly nice. I would also contemplate Lucente and Morty (if you can get him) emoticon

Re: Which bulls

Gibson and Outside are out of the running really due to calving ease..don't want dead calves and ruined recips, otherwise Outside would certainly be a contender.

No I'm not going to use Redmarker or Linjet.

Stephen does have a bit of a point about Forbidden and the Mascot blood although that wouldn't totally rule hime out.

Lucente probably isn't the bull for this cow and he won't have that rarity value.

Morty would be good but a little tricky to get hold of.

Ideally and depending on how she flushes the first time I would like to do her twice.

The two bulls I am thinking about are Lancelot for a production flush, and for a type bull Landin Park Talent..suprised know one mentioned him.

These two bulls will be rare and have the right profile to achieve what I want with this cow.I'll need to find out about calving ease though on both.

I would then maybe get her in calf to Outside.

Still plenty of time for me to change my mind!!

You're the Lucente critic you tell me!!!!!!!!!!

Actually in a lot of ways he would be a good cross-fore udder, legs etc, what I should of said was that Lucente wasn't the bull for this flush!

I want to get away from Blackstar a bit in case we keep a bull for ourselves.Soon nearly every animal in our herd will have some Blackstar blood in them , Lucente is a double cross and the cow has one cross already.I was also looking for a rump width improver..Lucente is avarage.

Lucente is going to be well represented in our herd already..where as Lancelot and Talent may not get any other use.

Sorry if my logic confuses you!

Re: Flush choice?

Fully understood!!!!!

I wasn't being critical, I knew you liked Lucente and he seemed a logical "knit" on this Bellwood cow.

Just to put the record straight, if you check back I havn't been over critical of Lucente.I openly admit I have not used the bull, but accept that this decision may turn out to be a mistake. What worries me is that through this forum and the national media you could get the impression that he is the bull to put across most of your herd. I believe that his type pattern is such that he needs using very selectively (as indeed do most bulls!!!!). I remain a bit suspicious of his milk figure, and as mentioned before, having Patron as a father doesn't endear him to me.

But, if he is the "Real Thing" he would be a great cross on your cow!!!!!!

And, may I add, a great success for the UK AI industry.

In my confusion I'll throw another name into the pot. Hiddenview best. He doesn't convert that well on our figures but the Americans have a lot of faith in him. Wade xEmory xLeadman so he will have some blackstar but also some rarity as semen is short.

Best looks to have great width in the frontend but his rump width is fairly average and rumps appear to be level.Udder attachments are OK but rear teat placement is towards the outside of the quarter ,therefore dont think he would be worth risking on a high type, high index Bellwood cow such as, this even if he is rare.

Hidden view Best is from one of three fantastic Emory sisters my father saw on a trip to the states when we were restocking 4 years ago. They made a great impression but the embryos were very dear around 1000/each if i remember. i not to excited about his sire though- Aero Wade they seem a little variable.

As Lancelot is rarer than rocking horses*** I expect you'll be flushing with him real soon

There were 200 straws in the UK.Cogent got 100 straight away. I've got 3 from Andrew Heaton which leaves 7 left in the country!
